INTRODUCTION

The NSTP subject is one of the most important to study because it will shape our

humanity and how to be a good student and professional in the future. We will admit that

we have difficulty attending class because of the weak signal but we still try to answer

and submit the task. We all hope that we learned and apply every good deed in our life.

But when we are going to the class, we always go back so we can’t go in again. NSTP

class is one of the subjects that we want to pass because we want to study everything

about NSTP.” You have to work hard for everything you want to reach” That is what

we have put in our mind because even though we have a hard time working together our

dream is to pass. Thanks to Mr. Harris Iñigo because they allowed us to do our pass due

activity.

HISTORY OF NSTP-CWTS

The National Service Training Program was also known as "An Act

Establishing the National Service Training Program (NSTP) for Tertiary Level

Students, Amending for the Purpose Republic Act No. 7077 and Presidential

Decree no. 1706, and for other Purposes" or Republic Act No. 9163. It was

signed into law in January 23, 2002 amidst the various calls of dissenting sectors

for its abolition or reform.

It invoked the constitutional provision regarding the "duty of the state to

serve and protect its citizens," specifically Article II (Declaration of Principles

and State Policies), Section 2, which states that "The prime duty of the

government is to serve and protect the people. The government may call upon the

people to defend the state, and in fulfillment thereof, all citizens may be required

under conditions provided by law, to render personal military or civil service"

(italics supplied). This is the same principle that created and sustained the

Reserve Officers Training Corps.

The primary objective of the NSTP law is to promote the role of the youth

in nation-building. As such, it aims to encourage the youth to become civic and/or

military leaders and volunteers whom could be called upon by the nation in cases

PAGE 5
their services are needed. Compared with the ROTC which specializes in military

training, and the E-ROTC which granted three options for students yet was

limited in implementation, the NSTP law ensured that the three components -

Civic Welfare Service, Literacy Training Service, and Reserve Officers Training

Corps - will be given the same and equal implementation in educational

institutions. Moreover, it defined the different components, the duration of the

training, coverage, etc.

The Three NSTP Components

The National Service Training Program is composed of three different

components.

Civic Welfare Training Service

is geared towards activities that have social impact through activities that

could contribute to "health, education, environment, entrepreneurship, safety,

recreation and morals of the citizenry", thus the CWTS component of the NSTP

stressed the importance of youth involvement in broad programs or activities that

PAGE 6
will benefit the people. While the CWTS focused on programs to enhance the

living conditions of the people, the

Literacy Training Service

Has a more limited yet equally useful objective that is to "train students to

become teachers of literacy and numeracy skills to school children, out of school

youth, and other segments of society in need of their service". LTS thus

specializes in the education of the people, strengthening the education sector to

empower the people through education. Meanwhile,

Reserve Officers' Training Corps

While deemed equally important by the NSTP law (it maintained its

existence and nature mentioned in RA 7077 having the primary objective to

prepare the youth in national defense became merely a component of the

program.

The NSTP required male and female students to undergo the program they

have chosen for two (2) semesters or one (1) academic year in contrast with the

ROTC which required males to take military training for four (4) semesters or

two (2) academic years. Students taking NSTP will get three (3) units from taking

PAGE 7
the program; equivalent of 1.5 units every semester. Thus, in contrast to the

mandatory - yet free - ROTC, students will now have to pay for their NSTP. This

included the former cadets of the ROTC who enjoyed the free reservist program.

Also, the law states that private learning institutions could offer one of the three

options but required state colleges and universities to maintain their ROTC units

together with an alternative unit from the two other options. The law also limited

the existence of the ROTC in private and vocational institutions requiring it to

have 350 cadets for it to be called a unit, otherwise - and considering other factors

such as insufficient cadet number, lack of logistics to support ROTC program of

instruction (POI), etc. - cross-enrolling the students to other schools for their

NSTP is an option.

The goal of the law and of the program is to harness the strength and

capacity of the youth to contribute to nation-building, thus the National Service

Reserve Force was created to enlist CWTS and LTS graduates which is also

equivalent to the Citizen Armed Force of the ROTC. In the event that the state

will need people for its civic and literacy activities, it will merely utilize the

personnel of the reserve force, the student volunteers the NSTP-CWTS and the

NSTP-LTS has produced. As with the need of the Armed Forces for additional

force for its defense campaigns, it can easily use its body of reservists in the

Reserve Command.

VALUES FORMATION: “KNOWING THYSELF AND PURPOSE”

Knowing yourself, you understand what motivates you to resist bad habit and develop

good ones. You’ll have the insight to know which values and goals activate y our

willpower. Tolerance and understanding of others. Your awareness of your own foibles

and struggles can help you empathize with other. Knowing thyself is a fully rewarding

and challenging process. It takes a lifetime of pleasurable work and courage. Your desire

to know who you are and what you want is the real success in life. It’s given you purpose,

directions and a true sense of well-being. In this first seminar we are so thankful to be

part of it and be a student of CSTC. First of all, we want to say thank you to our guest

speaker Sir Julio Romillo Mecurio to share their knowledge and experience's in this

seminar. This first seminar we learned the three topics that we tackle the five-core value

should that give me a lesson as a student that knowledge is in you but the most important

things is to be a real person and make worth also to be responsible for everything you do

in your life. Their topic helps us to achieve our chosen field someday because this topic

teaches us and remind us that attitude is better than knowledge because you're a kind of

person that knowledge is your capital but you have an attitude your life can't be balance.

In the second topic that Nail Pasricha's AA's to happiness, we learned the value of

happiness and the definition of true to have an attitude, awareness and authority because

happiness is very important to a person to give worth to their life and happiness avoid

stress and problem. This seminar we realize that everything we have is need to appreciate

and be thankful like Sir Julio said appreciate a little like cellphone is not define in their

brand because true happiness is depending appreciation to the things you have, also

PAGE 10
happiness create yourself realistic to everything. In our last topic the 8 employability

skills this topic we learned to break your barrier or to experience more and out to your

comfort zone to be connected to all the person that you encounter by communicating

them, because in our chosen field the things that consider is to be a good communicator.

In this topic we realize that make your own goal because when you plan now for the

future doing and applying is easy because previously you have a plan and this plan make

it a foundation your success. When you can achieve the 8 employability skills for sure

you can achieve your dream and you're successful someday. This seminar we can learned

so many things that is why we keep fighting and still kicking for the grade and for life.

NARRATIVE REPORT: “LEADERSHIP”

Leadership is a part of motivating a group of people to act toward achieving a common

goal. In a business setting, this can mean directing worker’s and colleagues with a

strategy to met a company needs. Leadership principle are the set of actions or guiding

beliefs the leader can implement to move them toward success and framework of actions

can take as a leader to inspire others to work together towards a common goal. Self-

awareness is a considered to be one of the key leadership strengths that must be

developed by people place in management position. A good leader posse a good vision, is

a courageous, has integrity, humility, and clear focus. Great leaders help people reach

their goal, are not afraid to hire people that might be better than them and take pride in

the accomplishments of those they help along the way. Different leader has different

characteristics and style. Thinking skill is the most important skill a leader needs and

what really distinguishes leaders. As well as being able to create a compelling vision,

they must also be able to communicate it effectively to their followers, which is partly

why communication skills are also vital to leaders. This lesson really helps us how to be a

good leader now and mostly in the near future when we are already in our field. It gave

us a knowledge to become a good person not only to become leader because I believe tat

when you are a good person you can be a good leader.

NARRATIVE REPORT: “HEALTH & SAFETY”

Occupational health and safety refer to a programs, guidelines and procedures that

protect the safety, welfare and health of any person engaged in a work or employment.

When health and safety procedures are followed correctly, they can help to prevent

accidents and reduce the risk in of employee injury and illness. Health and safety are

promoting a positive wellbeing as well as preventing any risk. Looking after health and

safety makes good business sense. In this third webinar our topic is about health and

safety that how is important to know because all of us need safety especially in our

health. Our guest speaker is Dr. Prince June S Apellado. This last webinar I'm very

excited and curious to this topic I can read the 10-mobility rate in the Philippine's and

also the world and he discuss the kind of harm that effects our health like biological,

chemical and physical hazard that affect and give us a problem not now but soon when

they can't be sensitive to things that can do. Dr. Prince discuss it clearly like what is

biological hazard what is the. main source of this and what happened when you are

encounter this kind of problem but the only things that I amaze to Dr. Prince is to show

and discuss the cure and medicine to the disease that affect our safety and health, it is

very important for me as a student to know the alternative medicine or first aid kit to

apply when experience this kind of hazard and the main topic that I'm curious to discuss

is the 10 mobility rate it is important to know because Dr. Prince answer the 4W and 1H

in their discussion. I amaze and curious to myself, I can do this to be safe and fallow the

process to be healthy to avoid this kind of diseases that harm to our self. After discussion

Sir Harris chat on the group and they find the student want to ask a question to our

PAGE 17
speaker. As a student that amaze to this webinar I confident to say I volunteer to ask a

question in our speaker I ask my question of what advise that can give to student that can

always face in gadget because of online classed. Prince answer it is clearly that he said

uses anti-radiation glasses and minimizes the use of gadget. I'm very proud to be part to

this webinar that give me a new knowledge and some tips for now and for the future.

LEARNINGS & RECOMMENDATIONS

This subject gave us knowledge and techniques on how to be a good person, students and

to be a good in our field in future. Mostly in the part that he teaches us on how to be a

good leader it a make us as whole person and mold our heart and mind into be a better

person not in worst. This lesson is very important to study because it would be a guide

on us in our everyday lives. We recommend that my co students and also everyone who

can understand this lesson is better apply it in your life to be a good person and leader.

We us a BSHM student it is really important to learn this lesson because it help to

improve our skills in communicating someone and how to be polite and friendly.

Moral principles & values

The moral principle that we have learned in this subject is we all have our own life and it

we need to be role in our own life. Change the negative attitudes and enhance the skills

that we have to help others who need help. Impluence other not a bad but a good. Make

our self-one of the god leaders and apply the lesson that we have learned in this subject.

PAGE 20
CONCLUSION
The NSTP subject is the best subject that I can take because of the knowledge that given

not for me but for the student to have idea or practices that use in their future to make

successful. The learning’s that we can adopt in all the webinar are used for being a good

student that responsible to the task that we give to us. The NSTP help us very well and

we can promise we can do our best to make all the knowledge apply in to reality you

make all things are better. This learning’s we can know are use can share to the person

around us. This is very important to have a webinar activity to make all students

knowledge to the issue or topic that can give information to cure or to avoid it is very

useful as a student that in counter many things but because of this they give the entire

student an idea how to do.
