    Classification of Database
    a. Traditional
    o when you let your classmates sign in your slum book
    o Filling-up of student’s registration
    b. Electronic
    ➢ 2 Kinds of Electronic Database
    a. Flat-file -> list of information that isn’t necessarily related to any
    other lists or tables
    Ex. A single list of student’s name, their level and sections in an
    Excel worksheet.

    b. Relational -> stores information and conducts searches by using


    data in related tables.
    Ex. A relationship is created between two or more tables it becomes
    a relational database.

    Database Management System


    o collection of computer programs that enables users to create and manage
    database. It manages all requests for database action from the user, such as
    updates and queries.
    o collection of software that enables us to create and manage computerized
    databases.
    o compared to a manual database, computerized database is more flexible,
    compact and faster.

    o Advantages of DBMS
    1. Faster -> computerized database provides speed: it can find
    a specific record or information from among thousands or
    even million entries within seconds.
    2. Compact -> since database records stored in filling cabinets
    can be stored in a single flash disk.
    3. Flexible -> it has the ability to examine information from a
    number of ways. So you could search for people living in
    same city of with persons with the same last names
