General Guidelines for Students

1. Distance Education Delivery (DED) shall be the mode of instruction of the UMTC. It is a modular and seminar
type of instructional delivery which will use alternative communication (via cellphone/telephone and SMS) and
social media platforms (e.g. email, private messenger, Facebook, Viber, WhatsApp, Line, Zoom and other similar
applications) depending on what is available for both teachers and students.

2. Students shall manifest Self-Directed Learning (SDL) as they follow the instructions provided in the Self-
Instructional Manual (SIM). The students can claim their course manual from the Program head and/or Course
Facilitator through email, messenger, printed, or through LMS platform whichever is applicable.

3. Courses/subjects to be offered this summer class shall be based on the appropriate course syllabi in terms of
learning outcomes, content coverage and assessment tasks.

4. Deadlines and submission of requirements can be arranged with flexibility as indicated in the teacher’s manual.
Schedules shall be determined and announced depending on the quarantine/lockdown conditions.

5. For examination permit, payment shall be made through designated payment centres (Cebuana, MLhuiller,
Palawan Padala Express and Metrobank). Upon payment, the payor should state the purpose of the payment in
the slip provided by the bank or the payment centres. The payor can indicate “Payment for Exam” and the payee
UM College College.

6. Schedule:

• Enrolment – May 4 to 23
• Classes Start – June 1
• Prelim Exam – June 11
• Midterm Exam – June 26
• Final Exam – July 9-10

7. To ensure honesty and authenticity, assessment tasks may be subjected to Turnitin with a maximum similarity
index of 30%.

8. Submission of final grades shall follow the existing University system and procedures.

9. Help Desk is available to respond to student concerns.

10. Data privacy should be observed at all times.

11. All students are guided by professional conduct as learners in attending DED courses. University’s core values
should be embodied and exercised. Any breach of violation shall be dealt with properly under existing guidelines.

12. Students shall independently and honestly take examinations and do assignments unless collaboration is
clearly required or permitted. Students shall not resort to dishonesty to improve the results of their assessments.
Furthermore, Final Examinations in DED mode shall be done on-campus/onsite taking into considerations the
LGU’s quarantine or lockdown guidelines.

13. Students shall not post or share their answers, assignment or examinations to others to further academic
fraudulence online.

14. By enrolling in DED courses, students agree and abide by all provisions of the online code of conduct as well as
all the requirements and protocols in handling online courses.
