Total darkness enveloped his life yesterday; hues of rainbow colors blend his
life today; radiant light shall welcome him tomorrow.
He dreamed of becoming a lawyer, doctor, engineer… but never a teacher.
Since nobody supported him to pursue his dream, he enrolled teaching instead. His
passion to fulfill his dream continued to steer him, so the nuns helped him. He was
granted scholarship as he worked to defray all his expenses for tuition, board and
lodging, and allowance. In his college years, he was a dynamic president in many
organizations. He represented the school in various seminars and contests in the
country. He finished college as cum laude and top of the batch with numerous
awards, and he landed a good job. Then he got married and had four children.
He finished Cum laude in Bachelor of Science in Education (Major in English;
Minor in Music) and graduated Master of Arts in Education, Major in General Science
at Holy Infant College. He also earned Master of Arts in Teaching and Doctor of Arts
in Language Teaching at Leyte Normal University. He pursued Master of Arts in
Education major Administration and Supervision at the Eastern Visayas State
University. Recently, he earned a Diploma in Public Management and Development
Program at the Development Academy of the Philippines and now graduated
Bachelor of Laws at St. Paul School of Professional Studies.
From being a teacher in Holy Infant College for four years, he moved to
Philippine Science High School Eastern Visayas Campus for eleven years as a
teacher of English. Then, he moved to the Bahamas as a visiting faculty to teach
sciences. As a family man, he decided to return to the Philippines, and he was hired
as Head of Students Affairs and Dean of College of Education/Liberal Arts in Holy
Infant College. Simultaneously, he served as Senior Lecturer III University of the
Philippines Manila – School of Health Sciences since July 2006 until 2013. Then in
2012, he was appointed as the Director of Philippine Science High School - EVC.
Other relevant employment include the following: Executive Editor of the 8
Magazine, the first Travel and Lifestyle Magazine in Region VIII; Customer Service
Representative of the People Support; Executive Director of YMCA Eastern Visayas;
Research Counselor of the Anti-Radiation Research Development; and
Founder/President of the Center for the Arts in Tacloban City.
He has authored a textbook on the Anthology of “Asian and African
Literature,” “Global English for Filipinos,” and “iLearn 8 (Book in Integrated Science);
edited “Our Daily Jokes,” “iLearn 7 (Book in Integrated Science) and other books;
written three theses and a dissertation, advised several unpublished theses,
contributed, and edited articles in the newspapers. He has contributed articles in
local newspaper and 8 Magazine.
Part of his international involvements include the following: Last March 18-
424, 2018, he attended A leadership Program in STEM Education in Nanyang
Polytechnic, Singapore. In 2017, Paper Presentation during the AFTEA International
Research Convention in New York, USA; Executive Leadership Training in NIE,
Singapore, and K-12 Educational System Integration in Thailand; In 2016, ELT
Dublin Ireland, Paper Presenter/Speaker, Literary Circle as Communicative
Pedagogy in Teaching Literature; New York International Times Essay Writing on
Global Education, Hongkong as Coach/Chaperon; In 2015, Foreign Study Mission in
Vietnam; MWITS Science Fair, Nakhon Pathom, Thailand; In 2014, Japan Super
Science Fair, Paper Presenter “Haiyan in Review: Its Challenges and Opportunities”;

Testimonial Speaker, Paris, France; In 2013, Australian Leadership Awards

Special Children, Los Angeles, USA, (Trainee); Energy, Forces, and Motion Training

The following are his significant awards and contributions to the community:
Director of PSHS EVC whose student, Hillary Diane Andales, won in the
Breakthrough Junior Challenge besting more than 11 thousand entries from 178
countries and winning $400,000.00 prize; UNESCO-Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum
Prize Finalist for Outstanding Practice and Performance in Enhancing the
Effectiveness of Teachers (2015-2016); Filipino International Teacher Service
Awardee, New York (2016); DAP PMDP SEC 4 Scholar (June – October 2015);
Outstanding Educator Awardee, 7th Sangyaw Awards (2015); Build a Bridge
Challenge (Bahamas) October 2009 (Coach of National Winner – Runner-up);
National Coastal Awareness (Bahamas) March 2009 (Coach of National Champion
on Research and 2 Runners-up); Second-Round Qualifier of Metrobank Search for
Outstanding Teachers (2007); National Outstanding School Paper Adviser (2001);
and a multi-awarded Outstanding Teacher and Adviser. He passed Philippine Board
Examination for Teachers, Career Service Sub-Professional Examination, Career
Service Professional Examination, P.D. 906, and a recipient of the Brightest for
Bureaucracy Program. This May 2018, he is going Washington DC, USA to be
conferred the awards Rising to the Challenge of Excellence in Education Award and
Community Leadership Award by the United Federation of Fil-Am Educators.
Recently, he was recognized SPSPS School of Law Presidential Leadership
Awardee.
He is a well-rounded teacher and leader with twenty-five years experience in
teaching and supervising. He has been tapped as resource person in Research,
English Proficiency, Journalism, Personality Development and Interpersonal
Communication, Public Speaking, Debates, Cooperative, and Leadership Skills
Training. He has been tapped as talent coordinator, production manager or artistic
director in pageants, shows, and concerts in school, church and community. He
headed and joined several organizations in school, church, and community and
spearheaded environmental related projects and seminars. He has been engaged in
outreach programs and testimonial sharing of his life in the region and the world.
Versatile person is he – a family man, a teacher, a community worker, a writer, a
researcher, a leader.
Simultaneously, he devoted his time serving the Lord in various capacities –
as Knight of Columbus, Coordinator of Family and Life Apostolate, choir member,
lector, cantor, lay minister, leader of the Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and
Professionals, president in various organizations and cooperatives. One of his major
contributions is hosting about 3,000 evacuees during the onslaught of Typhoon
Yolanda and the rehabilitation and refurbishment of the whole campus ravaged by
the typhoon.
For now, his life is truly a blend of different rainbow colors – personal life,
education, career, and family.
