CAREER OBJECTIVES

I am passionate about advancing my long-term career in the academic and educational sector
at a more senior level where I can harness my experience, skills and personality to the
advantage of my employer as well as my own career growth. I am willing to take on new
challenges in a stable working environment that promotes fairness, diversity and personal
development. As a life-long learner, I am willing to acquire new skills that would enable me

EXPERIENCED ENGLISH LECTURER AND STUDENT AFFAIRS MANAGER


Senior lecturer in English with 17 years’ experience in two universities with a track record of
teaching English Language Courses across all undergraduate levels. Research interest is in
English as a Second Language and Applied Linguistics. Additional experience of almost 10
years in providing student services in a United World College and an MA in International
Development with interest in advocacy for children and women as well as fund raising and
programme coordination and management.

Track record includes teaching Introductory Language Courses, Discourse Analysis,


Semantics, Psycholinguistics, Phonology, Morphology, Syntax, English as a Second
Language, Bilingualism, Supervising 4th Year Undergraduate Long Essay Project and

Key Responsibilities: responsible for the pastoral care of over 200 International
Baccalaureate students between 15 and 21 years from over fifty countries; liaising between
the students and other members of the school community; coordinating students’ study
permits and visas. As a tutor, I work closely with a group of twelve to thirteen students every
year monitoring their academic and pastoral well-being. As Deputy Head of Hostel, I work
collaboratively with the Head of Hostel and another Deputy to manage 18 other tutors. My
job also includes coordinating and supervising community service projects in aid of
disadvantaged children in Swaziland Primary Schools. I engage directly in the academic life
of the students by supervising Extended Essays in World Religion and Cultural and Social
Anthropology.
Outstanding Achievements: adding value to the experiences of students in the hostel,
investing in their academic performance and their personal growth by motivating,
encouraging and guiding them, creating an enabling environment for the students to reach
their full potential.
