Käänteinen - Reversible Rib Cap

Käänteinen - Reversible Rib Cap
This rib cap was inspired by Rocky movies. The main character has a black cap on when running. I too needed
to knit a cap, thin but warming and suitable for sensitive skin. This cap has a wide folding edge, which you can
set as you like. The simple crown decreases form a cross on one side. Right and wrong side are different and
both can be used as the outside. This cap is reversible and foldable, just the way you like to!
Yarn: Sandnes Lanett (100 % merino, 50 g / 195 m) 100 g in graphite gray for finer
cap
La Alpaca (100% alpaca, 50 g, Nm 3/8) 100 g in orange for thicker cap
Tension: 31 sts and 42 rows to 10 cm square in stockinette stitch for finer cap
26 sts and 35 rows to 10 cm square in slightly stretched k 3, p 2 rib for thicker cap
• Samples are knit in magic loop with one 80 cm long circular needle. There are instructions
for two yarn qualities, a finer and a thicker one. First figure is for finer yarn, and latter is
for thicker yarn. If there’s only one figure in the instructions, it applies for both sizes.
• It’s important that you knit decreases in same way and at same places all the time for the
decrease pattern to form correctly. The center stitch of decreasing stays at the same column
of stitches all the time. You can use st markers to help.
• The ribbing in the cap knit in finer yarn will not go even at the end of round. There will be
a column of four consecutive knit sts at the changing of round spot. If you are particular
about your ribbing and still want to follow the pattern, please knit in the size for thicker
yarn, as the ribbing goes even in it.
Next row: Continue in pattern, knit sts at decreases as they come (knit the knit sts
and purl the purled ones).
Decrease every other row until there’s 16 – about 16 sts between two decrease points.
Then decrease on every row till you have 4 – 4 to 8 sts left. Keep the decreases at the
same place, as shown on the chart below. This way they don’t start swirling.
