REEL POSITION, HYDRAULIC RAM SEALS - RP7982 MANDATORY
 
Advice
Due to more reports of internal leaks, a new seal has been introduced to the rams, the
models applicable are in table 1.
NOTE: Make sure to carefully read this bulletin and understand all the operations before you
start the procedure.

Action
Replace the main piston seal in the 3 different reel rams, use the information the table 2.
NOTE: Some header rams have already been modified at the factory and they can be rec-
ognised by the “X“ marked on the base of the parts.

After the seal replacement we recommend


to mark the rams on the base of the part
with “X“, to identify they have the new
seal. All rams at AGCO Parts Division with
the new seal are marked "X" in the same lo-

Warranty Information
Details of the affected machines are available in the “view RP information” on AGCOnet.
Claims submitted must be clearly marked RP7982.
Claims must include the Failure Code R7982.
The labour allowance is 3 hours per machine, this includes a contribution for travel to re-
tailed machines.
All work must be completed and claims submitted by 31 December 2013.

2. Remove the head with the rod as shown in figure 4.


 

3. Pull out the rod with the cylinder head as


shown in figure 5.
NOTE: Do not remove the cylinder head

4. Remove the rigid element in polyamide (PA) of the piston seal as shown in figure 6.

6. Remove the guide ring as shown in figure 8.


 

To Assemble
NOTE: Before the new seal is assembled, carefully clean the components and make sure

8. Install the new rigid white seal as shown in figures 11 and 12, using a strip of soft cotton
made into a loop. Install the rings in two stages, the first ring and then the second ring.

Install the rod with the cylinder head with the rod fully extended as shown in figure 14, oil
the cylinder bore and the cylinder head assembly.
