Greetings! My name is Samboy D. Franco and I am from the Philippines.

I am a public school teacher and


came from a poor family and right now I am not able to pay for this course because I am the only one
working in our family of 11. I'm very much looking forward to attend Coursera courses. However, I am
unable to provide funds for the programs. My father died last December and we experienced an
extreme setback in our financial situation. If you accept my application, it would help to brighten my
future. Also in the future, I can achieve my goal and contribute meaningfully to Coursera. It is my sincere
wish to attend to this course, and that is why I am requesting a review of my financial aid request with
consideration of these extenuating circumstances. Your help is greatly appreciated, and I thank you for
taking the time to review my appeal.

The certificate would be a valuable thing for me because it will help me a lot to update my public health
practice background particularly to the behavior and behavior changes among individuals. Also, the
certificate will help me to get better job opportunities and be promoted as soon as possible. This course
Understanding Research Methods will help me demystify research and research methods. It will also
help me outline the fundamentals of doing research. It will place my experience at the center. These
concepts will help me to improve my skills and learn new things in new way with new instructors. This
course that I want to get, I think it will open a window of chances to get a career or pursue the higher
studies and ease the way through the studying abroad. To step forward and achieve my goal I must
develop my skills and make progress in my experience by take additional courses and Coursera provide
the access to the best world universities especially SOAS, University of London so I really need this
courses to accomplish the dream.

I wish I could. But to this point of time, I would not consider using a low-interest loan to pay for courses.
The biggest reason for not taking a low interest loan is my financial strength to pay for my education.

The new normal situation in the educational system in my country brought by the
pandemic formed rapid change in technology and content and force us teachers to adapt
and modify the curriculum and learning design. The shift to digital learning provides
opportunity to customize learning sequences for each student will make education more
productive by closing learning gaps sooner and accelerating progress. Digital learning for
me means an educational platform that allows students to access more and more
information and also ensuring that the information is customized and suited to their
personal needs. In this time, digital learning can help me enhance my own learning
experiences and the learning experiences of my learners. It can help me save time, effort
and resources. Similarly, digital learning will enable me to better tailor learning to my
students’ needs, aid in tracking my students’ progress and provide transparency into the
learning process for all stakeholders.

I will be choosing service design. Like what I have said in Activity 2.6, service design is not
just as mere tools and methods only but also about creating a strong and retentive
mindset. When students get the experience and get the right mindset, they will start
understanding the process. Service design can also be a physical teaching environment.
Exposing them to the real environment will simply give them the capacity of visualizing
their experience and put those experiences into an actual creative aspect and eventually
will turn into a design aspect. How this concept of service design will help me in my
teaching practice? Basically, with service design, I will first define a project parallel to the
needed skills and competencies of my learners. The definition of my project then will entail
a process of discovery, gathering inspirations and insights, identifying needs and
developing initial ideas. My lesson then will involve my students to brainstorming,
prototyping, multi-disciplinary working, visual management, development methods and
assessment. After all, with service design, they will be able to improve and refine their
ideas and works.

I want to learn multiple sets of skills in digital learning and master them. May be I can do
this by working on various tasks with an experienced team. I want myself to utilize the
entire set of skills I possess in digital learning.

Elaborating my long-term goal, I want to take up leadership responsibilities like being in


charge of a team for a certain task involving digital learning.

I will consider differentiated instruction in digital learning. Differentiated instruction in


digital will meet the individual needs of my learners by custom tailoring not only the
content, but also how the information is conveyed and how my learners will demonstrate
their understanding of my subject matter.

While student access to technology at home and lack of time during the school day are
cited as the top obstacles to integrating technology into teaching and learning, there are
many other concerns as well. One of these is the lack of a digitized curriculum. As of now,
we are only using the moderated curriculum with most essential learning competencies. I
want to develop a digitized curriculum which will be unpacked by both teachers and
students.

In this period of time, I only have myself and my students. Although there were times when
I am designing my digitized learning materials, I collaborated with my co teachers.
In the future, I would like to involve my whole department team (comprising of 7 teachers)
and our school administrator. They are the right person in order to establish my
commitment to sustainability of the digital learning.

Simply providing access to technology alone will not help students become effective
communicators and collaborators. They need to be taught these skills in supportive
environments using the technologies they do and will use outside of school. Students need
to be taught how to communicate and share ideas clearly, listen actively, consider the ideas
and perspectives of others, and provide constructive feedback that promotes learning and
moving towards the goals. These are the competencies I currently have.

I still want to be adept in digital learning and make academic researches regarding this
discipline. That is why I'm looking forward to attend any digital learning courses in the
future, because I have learned that with digital learning, I can make digital learning
contextually relevant. To step forward and achieve my goal I must develop my skills and
make progress in my experience by taking additional courses and Future Learn provide the
access to the best world universities especially Deakin University.

At present, I am using self-assessment in a form observation and analysis checklist, the


classroom observation rating card of my immediate head and a small group instructional
feedback with my department members.

I would like to employed learning management system tools in assessing my online


teaching effectiveness.

In my country, they issued an order to all of its principals, supervisors, and teachers for the
adoption of the Basic Education Research Agenda which promotes the conduct of education
research in the country. The purpose of which is to identify concerns and problems, and to
recommend solutions based on the results and findings made. With professional growth and
development as one of the key result areas for the individual teacher’s performance commitment
and review, doing action research has already become part of the annual performance appraisal
for all teachers. Hence, the primary reason for us teachers to engage in research. As for me,
undertaking research cultivates and increases my skills and competencies and boosts my
confidence. I like engaging in classroom-based research because it widens and extends
recognizing on my own teaching styles. I have conducted eight classroom-based action
researches and willing to conceptualize more in order to improve myself, my students and my
institution. It is my dream, as a research advocate to cultivate research into its lofty standards.

The model eventually includes how to make choices about educational claims based on what we
should know, what are the current thinking about educational claims, and what choices might be
more appropriate or effective given current conceptions. And I think that the goals of the model
include some parameters about how we all want to “think critically” or “analyze information”
independently. For us educators, there is a need to access resources like this model of key
concepts for thinking critically about educational claims, which will empower us to think
critically about claims made about teaching and learning. Thank you.

course for I believe it will help me to be more confident finding and engaging with research and

As I listened to them, I could not hold back the tears. The children knew who is really taking
responsibility for them. I suddenly remembered by 7th Grade students when they were
interviewed by our immediate head. They were secretly talked to and asked them what made Sir
Samboy as their best teacher. After my colleagues watched the prepared video of the interview,
there was a positive change in education climate of our school. It effectively changes their
perspective on the academically challenged learners by encouraging them to have freedom and
independence, by creating a sense of community, and by encouraging positive student and
teacher relationships.

Contemplating on the advantages in considering students’ voice as part of engagement, I can say
that the best contribution is the creation of more learning opportunities for students. When
students are given the freedom and responsibility to direct their education, they enjoy the
schooling experience and go on to possibly become life-long learners. As long as we enable their
voices to be a part of the solution, rather than a part of the problem, especially when they give
criticism more than appreciation. The disadvantage I think is that when those voices are not true
and honest, it may not resolve substantive issues and may lead to disparaging action.

The Snapshot issue presented if the climate in Australian classrooms has changed and if the
student-teacher relationships has deteriorated. Using the reliability guide, it was fun to assess the
issue. The guide helped me find the most relevant information for the topic and somehow the
guide will guide you to weed out unreliable, biased, outdated, and/or incorrect information.

1. I made used of Google in searching for ‘relationships for learning’ and found about
633,000,000 results and the Google Scholar projected around 1,200 results.
2. Both showed different scholarly articles related to the search engine.
3. I found the article published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt relevant.
4. I made used on the previous reliability guide.
5. We have similar opinions on the platforms we have used.
