Percentages (LOD 02 Answers) Let the maximum marks be N.

1. Correct Option: E According to the question,

Net effect = [- 12 - 4 + {(-12) (-4)/100}]% (20N/100) + 50 = (40N/100) - 30

= (-16 + 0.48)% ⇒ 20N/100 = 80

= -15.52% ∴ N = (80 x 100)/20 = 400

2. Correct Option: A 7. Correct Option: C

Given that, a = 20% and b = 5% Given, R = 15% and R2 = 20%

According to the formula Required population

Required percentage = [20 - 5 - {20 x (5/100)}% = = P(1 + R1/100) (1 - R2/100)

14%
= 126800(1 + 15/100) (1- 20/100)
3. Correct Option: A
= 126800 (1 + 3/20 ) (1- 1/5)
Let original price be ₹ 100
= 126800 x (23/20) x (4/5) = 116656
Then, increased price = ₹ 125 8. Correct Option: A
∴ Reduction in consumption Given that,
= [(125 - 100)/125 ] x 100% P = 705600, R = 5% and n = 2
= (25/125) x 100 % According to the formula,
= 20% Population after n yr = p(1 + R/100)n
4. Correct Option: C ∴ Population after 2 yr.
Let original price be ₹ 100 = 705600 x (1+ 5/100)2
Then, reduced price = ₹ 94 = 705600 x (105/100)2
∴ Increase in consumption = 705600 x (21/20 x 21/20) = 777924
= [(100 - 94)/94] x 100 % 9. Correct Option: C
= (6/94) x 100 % Given that,
= 618/47% p = 1058400, R = 5% and n = 2
5. Correct Option: A According the formula,
Let maximum marks be N. Population n yr ago = P/(1 + R/100) n
According to the question, ∴ Population 2yr ago = 1058400/(1+ 5/100)2
40N/100 = 40 + 40 = 1058400 x 20/21 x 20/21 = 960000
⇒ 40N/100 = 80 10. Correct Option: D
∴ N = 200 Population after 2 yr
6. Correct Option: D = P (1 + R/100)2

= 250000 (1 + 2/100)2 So, one-third of the number = 360/3 = 120

⇒ 250000 x (51/50) x (51/50) = 260100 15. Correct Option: D

∴ Growth = 260100 - 250000 = 10100 B's marks = C's marks + 5% of 400

11. Correct Option: B = 300 + 20 = 320

Let the number of boys = B Now , A's marks = B's marks + 10% of 400

and number of girls = G = 320 + 40 = 360

Then, 10% of B = 1/4 of G 16. Correct Option: D

⇒ B/10 = G/4 Total marks scored by Mathew in all subjests = 42 + 51

+ 58 + 35 + 48 = 234
⇒ B/G = 10/4 = 5/2
∵ Maximum marks is 60 in any subject.
⇒B:G=5:2
∴ Maximum marks = 60 x 5 = 300
12. Correct Option: D
∴ Percentage of Mathew's marks
In such case, there is always decrease.
= [(Marks obtained / Maximum marks)] x 100
Given that, a = (common increase or decreased) = 7%
= (234 / 300) x 100
According to the formula,
= 234/3 = 78%
Decreased Percentage = a2/100 %
17. Correct Option: A
= 72/100 %
Net effect on area = -20 + 10 + [(-20 )(10)/100] %
= 0.49%
= (-10 - 2) % = -12%
13. Correct Option: C
Now, after this mistake new area = (100 - 12)% of 200
Let 1st number be M and 2nd number be M.
= (88/100) x 200
According to the question,
= 176 sq cm
48% of M = 60% N
18. Correct Option: B
⇒ (M x 48)/100 = (N x 60)/100
After removing 25% of blue balls,
⇒ M/N = (60/100) x (100/48) = 5/4
Total blue balls left = 75% of 100
∴M:N=5:4
= (75/100) x 100 = 75
14. Correct Option: C
After removing 50% of red balls, total red balls left =
Let the positive number be N. 50% 0f 50 = (50 x 50) / 100 = 25
According to the question ∴ Required percentage = [50/(75 + 25 + 50)] x 100
N x (15+ 20)% = 126 = (50/150) x 100
⇒ N x 35 = 126 x 100 = 331/3 %

∴ N = 12600/35 = 360 19. Correct Option: A

Let cost prices of two article be 3N and 4N respectively = 122 x 7

then
= 854
(110% of 3N) / (4N + 4) = 3/4
Hence, number of girls in school this year in 854.
⇒ 1.1N / (N + 1) = 1
23. Correct Option: C
⇒ 1.1N = N + 1
Let maximum marks of the exam is N.
⇒ 0.1 N = 1 According to the question,
⇒ N = 10 Marks obtained by Vidaya = Marks obtained by Aryan
Thus, cost price of the second article is 4 x 10 = ₹ 40 + 296

20. Correct Option: D ⇒ N x (76/100) = 350 + 296

Let sale in 2008 = 100 ⇒ N x (76/100) = 646

Sale in 2009 = 20 ⇒ N = (646 x 100)/7

Sale in 2010 = 100 ⇒ N = 8.5 x 100 = 850

∴ Required increases = [(100 - 20)/20] x100 ∴ N = 850

= (80/20) x 100 = 400% 24. Correct Option: D
21. Correct Option: C 32% of 750 = 750 x (32/100) = 240
Let the total number of votes = N From option (a), 23% of 600
According to the question, = 600 x 23/100 = 138
75% of 98% of 75% of N = 9261 From option (b), 46 % of 207

[∵ 2% votes were rejected] = 207 x 46/100 = 95.22

⇒ (N x 75 x 98 x 75) / (100 x 100 x 100) = 9261 From option (c), 98% of 250

∴ N = (9261 x 100 x 100 x 100) / (75 x 75 x 98) = = 250 x 98/100 = 245

16800 From option (d), 75% of 320
22. Correct Option: A = 320 x 75/100 = 240
Last year number of boys in school = 610 Hence, from option (d), satisfies equality of the equation.
∴ Number of boys in school this year = 610 - (610 x 25. Correct Option: C
20)/100
For class X, let the students passed in first class = a%
= 610 - 122 = 488
Then, by condition given in question
∴ Number of girls in school this year
a% of 30 = 24
= Number of boys in school this year x 175%
⇒ (a x 30) /100 = 24
= (488 x 175)/100
∴ a = 80%
= (488 x 7)/4

Now, for class Y let the student passed in first class = = [100 - (49 + 36 - 15)]% = 30%
b%
Let total number of students = N
Then, according to the question,
According to the question,
b% of 35 = 28
(N x 30)/100 = 450
⇒ (b x 35)/100 = 28
⇒ N = (450/30) x 100 = 1500
∴ b = (28 x 100)/35 = 80%
∴ Total number of students = 1500
Hence, both classes have equal percentage of student
getting first class. 30. Correct Option: C

26. Correct Option: D Mr. Sen's monthly income

Annual household expenses = (Bina + Anita)'s monthly income = 775200/12 = ₹

64600
= ₹ (25% of 4.32 x 105)
According to the question.
= ₹ (25/100) x 4.32 x 105
Bina's monthly income = 90% of Anita's monthly income
= ₹ ( 25 x 4.32 x 103)
⇒ Bina/Anita = 90/100 = 9 /10
∴ Household expenses for 8 months
⇒ Bina : Anita = 9 : 10
= ₹ [(25 x 4.32)/(12 x 8)] x 103)
∴ Bina's Monthly salary
= ₹ 72000
= (9/19) x 64600
27. Correct Option: C
= ₹ 30600
Required salary in October
= 6300 x (104/100) x (104/100)
= 63 x 104 x 1.04
= ₹ 6814.08
≈ ₹ 6814
28. Correct Option: B
