- Review of the past lesson.

Our topic for today is all about Inequalities in At the end of the lesson, the learners are expected
One Triangle involving Exterior Angle Inequality to:
Theorem. But, let us first read the following a. Define exterior angle inequality theorem on
objectives. triangle inequality;
b. compute the possible measures of the angles
on triangle inequality;
c. appreciate the importance of exterior angle
II. ACTIVITY: inequality theorem in real life setting;
Thank you. Class, I have here an activity for
you to answer. This activity consists 4 groups. ( students are counting)
So, I want you to group into 4 so please count 1
to 4 start from the right side.

Now, proceed to your groupmates silently, form

a circle and please don’t drag the chairs. (Going to their groupmates silently.)

This activity will take only 10 minutes. After that,

each group will select a representative to Okay ma’am.

After 10 minutes…

Time is up. Present your answer in front.

( representative of each group present their answer)

III. ANALYSIS:
So, class how was the activity?
Did you enjoy it? It’s fun ma’am.
Did you find it difficult or easy? Yes, ma’am.
At first, it’s difficult ma’am but later we find it easy.
What makes it difficult?
What makes it easy? In finding the measures of an angle.
It’s easy in naming the exterior angle.
That’s good to hear. So, based on the activity,
what do you mean by exterior angle? When the angles that form linear pairs with the
interior angles of a triangle when the sides of the
triangle are extended are the exterior angles.
How you were able to obtain the angles that are
missing? In finding the measure of the exterior angle. We add
the two remote interior angle. And finding the
measure of the linear pair we subtracted the
measure of the exterior angle by 180°.
That’s right! So, how were you able to come up
with those conclusions with the given time limit? Through cooperation ma’am.

Alright! Cooperation is indeed essential in group

activities. Good job everyone.
IV. ABSTRACTION:
Our activity is about discovering the triangle
inequality theorem involving angle of a triangle.
Before doing it, let us know first the definition of
an exterior angle of a triangle.
L
.

M
N P
By extending MN of △LMN to a point P, MP is
´ ´
formed. As a result, ∠LNP forms a linear pair
with one of the angles of △LMN, ∠LNP referred
to as an exterior angle of △LMN. The angles
non – adjacent to ∠LNP, ∠ L and∠ M, are
called remote interior angles of exterior∠ LNP.
The measure of an exterior angle in a triangle
is the sum of the measures of the two remote
interior angles.
Remote interior angles

2 exterior angle

1 3 4

m∠ 1 + m ∠ 2 = m∠ 4
m∠ 3 = 180 - m∠ 4

V. APPLICATION:

What do you think the importance of It is important for us to study the exterior angle
exterior angle inequality theorem in a inequality theorem in a triangle so that we can able
triangle? to know how to find measures of different kinds
triangular shapes.
That’s right! This lesson is useful.
Who knows in the future you can be
an engineer or a carpenter. When
you make a table, houses and etc.
You can use this theorem.
