    Using Glitz Caustic Soda
    Did you know caustic soda (Sodium Hydroxide) is a common ingredient in
    most soaps? Now you can make your own soap right from home thanks
    to the Glitz Caustic Soda soap recipe.

    Ingredients
    • 150g Glitz Caustic Soda
    • 500g Coconut Oil (Copha)
    • 250g Canola Oil
    • 250g Olive Oil METHOD
    • 1 ½ Cups Cold Water 1. R  EAD THE DANGEROUS GOODS INFORMATION BELOW BEFORE
    • 50g Fragrance (optional)

    4. Slowly and carefully add the Glitz Caustic Soda to the cold water, stirring

    • Large stainless steel saucepan 5. Allow the solution to cool down to a warm temperature (approx 40oC) in

    • 250ml plastic cup a safe place.
    • Kitchen scales 6. Melt the Coconut Oil (Copha) at a low heat in a stainless steel saucepan.
    • A thermometer (Optional) Add the Canola Oil and Olive Oil to the melted Coconut Oil. Mix well
    • Plastic stirring rod 7. Allow the oil mixture to cool down to a warm temperature (approx 40oC)
    8. Slowly and carefully, pour the Caustic Soda solution into the stainless

    Caustic Soda is highly corrosive, it
    can cause burns to skin and can blind
    the eyes so please use with extreme
    CAUTION!
    Caustic soda MUST be added to cold
    water, not the other way round!
    All utensils must be thoroughly
    cleaned with warm water and a
    detergent at the end of the soap
    making exercise.
