I. Research Title
Challenges Encountered by CLB Teachers in the New Normal Educational
Landscape

I. Researchers

Babao, Jeremiah John
Castillo, Marissa
Espiritu, Catherine Rose
Lolong, Princess Gaea
Sabiniano, Jane Ellen
Sto Tomas, Lea Lynn

II. Project Duration

The research is expected to start this academic year 2021-2022. Specifically, it

will begin in March 2021 and to be finished in May 2022.

III. Significance of the Study

The aims of the study is to make certain the challenges of CLB teachers in the
New Normal. Thus, the researchers are interested to conduct a study regarding the
challenges in the new normal. Specifically, this study will greatly contribute to the
instructors of Colegio ng Lungsod ng Batangas by identifying the challenge and
factors in new normal setting. It is also identify the challenges and teachers’
resilience in facing this unexpected disaster brought about by pandemic truly were
able to give way another milestone in our life. This research, will set as a guide and a
reference for the future researcher who are going to have their research about the
Challenges encountered of CLB Teachers in the New Normal Educational Landscape.

IV. Objective:

The researcher seeks to find answers to the following questions:

1. What percentage of teachers are taking new normal classes and how prepared or
trained they are particularly in using their preferred online application?

2. What are the perceptions of the teachers on new normal teaching?

3. What are the challenges faced by teachers during new normal classes in terms
of:
3.1 instructional
3.2 environment
3.3 learners
3.4 Experience
4. What actions, based on the study's findings, could be suggessted to address the
challenges of CLB teachers in the new normal landscape?
V. Definition of Terms

The following terms are defined operationally for the purpose of the study.

New normal- copping in new way of teaching.

Challenges- problems that been facing a something new and difficult which requires
great effort and determination.

Pandemic- a crisis, the greatest challenge we have faced.

Technology- it refers to tools used for teaching in new normal.

Online Teaching- it refers to teaching through technology and other media platforms.

Modular- it refers to the other way of learning of the students through printed lectures
and activities that teachers provided.

VI. Review of Related Literature

According to UNESCO, the education sector is one of the most severely

impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Schools have been the most unsafe places in
terms of safety and protection. Teachers were able to work from home and students
studied from home via distance learning as a result of the community lockdown and
quarantine. (Crawford, et al., 2020). However, teachers who are new to distance
learning can feel unprepared to facilitate teaching and therefore need technological,
pedagogical and time management assistance. (Dyment, 2013)
And so, to continue with teaching and learning during pandemic, most tertiary
institution have adopted distance learning as new normal way of teaching. Moreover
tertiary institutions encountered a variety of challenges in implementing distance
learning in new normal landscape. (Gurajena et al., 2021)
As stated by De villa and Manalo (2020) teachers are making the requisite
preparations to equip themselves with distance learning as education moves to the
New Normal. Even though they face challenges that may hinder their work, they
manage to adjust to the new normal and complete their tasks. Higher offices and
school authorities should collaborate with teachers before implementing distance
learning to meet their resource and technology needs.

VII. Expected Output and Derivations

The study is expected to produce a curriculum implementation plan and

actions that will promote a new normal work-life stability between CLB teachers.

The study will run for two semesters. This March 2021, the research proposal
will be submitted to Dr. Retchie Guico for Approval. Upon Approval, the survey
questionnaire will be drafted, edited, and revised which will be done for April. The
survey questionnaire will be administered in August as well as the Focus Group
Discussion. For the August until the end of September, the data will be tabulated,
analyzed and interpreted. The first copy of the whole study will be submitted October,
and will be revised for November. The final output of the paper is expected to be
endorsed on December.

VIII. End Users

Particularly, the research is conducted for the benefit of the institution itself.
The output will be guide in order to help the teachers in coping those challenges in the
new normal education and to improve their skills and knowledge.

IX. Methodology

The study will be using online descriptive survey. The online survey will be
conducting to study the challenges faced by CLB teachers during online teaching and
their attitude towards online teaching. Since the Colegio ng Lungsod ng Batangas
were closed during COVID 19 it was not possible for the researchers to visit the
schools physically. So, an online survey will be conducted and respondents
voluntarily participated in this survey.
