SARS, avian flu, swine flu, mers, zika, and ebola are only a handful of the viruses that have
devastated the globe and made their mark on other nations. Coronavirus, on the other hand, is
making its own history in the world. A legacy that will haunt us for the rest of our lives.
Because of its uncontrollable human-to-human transmission infections, the outbreak is
classified as a pandemic by the Global Health Organization. And now, despite becoming disease-
free in the past, the Philippines is having trouble managing outbreaks due to a lack of
government discipline. As Secretary of the Department of Health, I agree that the national
government should be more stringent in enforcing travel bans around the world, allowing only
food and medical transportation into each country. The vaccine developed should be spread
around the world, with a priority given to countries with high populations of infected people.
Armies, barangay volunteers/tanods, and police officers in our local government should be more
proactive in enforcing social distancing and extending curfew hours. Coordination and
collaboration, two critical factors in dealing with a pandemic. It should be 20 hours of curfew per
barangay to lessen the number of people outside. Mayors and LGU’s should do a door-to-door
distribution of relief goods to help the lower class survive this pandemic crisis. Food businesses
and stores that sell medical supplies are the only establishments open during ECQ.
I heard every day on the news that there is still some citizen who don't know how to follow
the rules during this pandemic that is why the government of the Philippine should implement a
super extreme enhanced community quarantine. This pandemic will not end if there are still
people that hardheaded. The local government should prioritize the PPE and other safety
equipment of our front liners in private hospitals, if our front-liner dies, the Philippine citizen
may die also. Having a private bus for our front-liner is a great idea to help them arrive early to
their work and not struggle in explaining to the checkpoints that they are front liners. People
should know their responsibility as a citizen here in the Philippines, they should stay at home and
not go outside if there is not the important thing to do. The pandemic has the potential to trigger
a much more serious economic slowdown. Preparation, willingness, and resources are all in short
supply right now, thus seizing chances for peace requires time, will, and money.
The execution of the post-lockdown steps was unsurprisingly disorderly in the absence of
any advance notice or planning, with extreme shortages of not only household essentials but also
medical equipment such as face masks and protective garments for medical personnel. This
pandemic crisis will end if we become disciplined citizen and knowledgeable about our
surroundings. Clean your hands or massage them with an alcohol-based rub every now and then
to shield yourself and others from illness. Stop rubbing your skin. Knowing safety precautionary
measures and limiting ourselves to go outside will lessen the spread of the virus. Prevention is
better than cure.
