f1 2021 - PBL 1 Submarine
Students often assume that light objects will float while heavy objects will sink in the water. In
fact, the object’s ability to float or sink is depending on their density. This proves the ability of a
submarine to float and sink even though they are large and build from heavy metals.
PROCEDURE :
1. FACTS FINDING
All students were needed to identify the facts regarding density of materials. All the
information can be search inside the text book, reference books and internet.
a) Density
b) Water displacement method
3. ACTION PLAN
4. SOLUTION
Build a submarine model (from plastic bottle) that can float and sink in a pool. Relate to
water displacement. Suggest applications of density in daily life.
5. PRESENTATION
Make 1 minute of short video on DIY submarine test (with explanation) or list of pictures
of your submarine and send it personally to your subject teacher. (Google classroom /
whatsapp / telegram)

Important notes:
1. You are required to make a folio and a model of DIY Submarine
as the evidence of this project.
2. DIY of submarine can refer to youtube video.
3. As a presentation.
Option 1:
Snap 3 – 5 pictures of you testing your submarine and send it
personally to your Subject teacher.
OR
Option 2:
Make 1 minute of short video on DIY submarine test (with
explanation) and send the video personally to your subject
teacher.
4. Folio can be either printed or handwritten.
5. Implementation period: 3 Weeks (5 March 2021 – 26 March 2021)
