1. What is history? How is your understanding of history different from what is explained in
this lesson?
- History is known as the study of past events such as action, people, discovery, or
collection. History narrates memories to aware people nowadays what happened before
today. History’s primary purpose is to stand at the center of a diverse, tolerant,
intellectual about our existence like our society, economy, and culture. It also a part to
shape the identity we have today.
2. What does a historian do? As a student of history, what do you think will be your
“duties”?
- A historian has a job such as studying and interpreting the past. They have a process
called the historical method, where they collect and evaluate information from many
primary sources to answer questions about historical events. They analyze written
records, physical artifacts, and any evidence for their investigations.
3. What is the main distinction between primary source and secondary source?
- Primary source are information which are the closest to the main point of history. These
information are records of events by individuals who mainly experienced the event. It can
be in the form correspondence, diaries, memoirs, artifacts, and personal histories which
are raw information of history. On the other hand;
- Secondary source are the analysis and restatements of the primary source. They are the
interpretation of the primary source that can be in the form of textbooks, articles, and
reference books. Unlike the primary source, secondary source is a manufactured
information which are the result of interpretations of the primary source.
