ALTERNATIVE ENERGY

Introduction

What would you do if fossil fuels ran out? The objects that work on fossil
fuels will stop working. Hello, my name is Anojan. Today I will talk about
the six types of alternative energy: Solar, Hydro, Nuclear, Wind,
Geothermal, and Bio energy.

Solar Energy

The solar energy comes from our own star, the Sun. The sun’s energy
reaches Earth as heat and light. We use solar power for many different
things such as drying clothes, growing crops, and even running cars! We
capture the energy using solar panels. Now here are some benefits: The
creation of solar energy requires little maintenance, they are a silent
producer of energy, and solar electricity power plants produce zero
emissions.

Hydro energy

Hydro energy comes from flowing or falling water. We use water power for
many things including electricity. We capture water power using
hydroelectric power plants. Now here are some benefits: They do not
cause pollution of air, land, or water, and they have low operating costs,
and are reliable.
Nuclear Energy

Nuclear energy can be used for electricity. We can capture nuclear energy
by storing the energy made from uranium. Now here are some benefits:
The generation of electricity through nuclear energy reduces the amount of
energy generated from fossil fuels. Less use of fossil fuels means lowering
greenhouse gas emissions.

Wind Energy

Wind is everywhere! We harness the wind using wind turbines. Now here
are some benefits: Wind energy releases no pollution, wind power is free
and inexhaustible, and wind energy is one of the low cost renewable
energy and makes a job for local people.

Geothermal Energy

Geothermal energy is the heat from the Earth. Below Earth's crust, there is
a layer of hot and molten rock, called magma. Heat is continually produced
in this layer. As the heat builds up, it pushes underground water up.
Finally, the hot water shoots up into the sky which we call a geyser. We
collect that heat and use it for heating, cooking, raising plants in
greenhouses, heating water at fish farms, and several industrial processes,
such as pasteurizing milk. Geothermal power plants drill their own holes
into the rock to more effectively capture the steam and make electricity.
Now here are some benefits: Geothermal power is cost effective, reliable,
sustainable, and environmentally friendly.

Bio Energy

Bioenergy is a renewable energy resource derived from living organisms

and/or their byproducts. Biomass is any organic material which has stored
sunlight in the form of chemical energy. As a fuel it may include wood,
wood waste, straw, manure, sugarcane, and many other byproducts from a
variety of agricultural processes. We used biomass energy or bio energy
for thousands of years. Now here are some benefits: Bio energy is cost
saving and makes less landfills.

Conclusion

I challenge you to use alternative fuel and cut out the fossil fuels. Make the
Earth a better place to live. Thank you for listening to my presentation!
