Jinnah’s Vision for Pakistan

Jinnah’s vision for Pakistan was to establish a free Islamic society having its
own identity and government, practicing its own social principles and religion. He
believed that Constitution of Pakistan will follow the essential principles of Muslim
democracy. He was a great follower of Islam and Quran. He often mentioned
golden rules of the Quran in his speeches. He believed that the laws in Pakistan
will be according to the Quran(the general code for the Muslims, a religious,
social, civil, commercial, military, judicial, criminal and penal code) and
Sunnah(the golden rules of conduct set for us by Prohet Muhammad S.A.W.W).

Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s vision for Pakistan was to build a state
where everyone’s rights will be preserved. All citizens of Pakistan will have
freedom, equal rights and obligations, irrespective of cast, colour and religion.
His vision was not to build a sectarian state, but a democratic state in which the
maintenance of law and order will be the prime duty of the state. Every citizen’s
life, property and religious beliefs will be safe and they will be free to go to
mosques, to their temples or any place of worship. There will be justice and fair
play without any partiality or favoritism. The Islamic Republic State of Pakistan
will be free from the malediction of corruption, black marketing, fraudulency and
bribery.

Pakistan is the result of Quaid’s great leadership and peaceful political process.
He had a firm belief in the power of peace and tolerance. He was a symbol of
peace. He was never in support of violence. According to his vision Pakistan will
be a country having friendly relations with its neighbours and with the world at
large to live peacefully. Therefore he said about defence and foreign policies that
“The weak and the defenceless, in this imperfect world, invite aggression from
others. The best way in which we can serve the cause of peace is by removing
the temptation from the path of those who think that we are weak and, therefore,
they can bully or attack us. That temptation can only be removed if we make
ourselves so strong that nobody dares entertain any aggressive designs against
us”.

For the economic system of Pakistan, he said that the state bank of Pakistan
should evolve an economic system compatible with Islamic ideas of social
and economic life. The Western economic theory and practice will not help us in
achieving our goal of creating a happy and contented society.

Jinnah’s Vision and Today’s Pakistan

If we look at today’s Pakistan, it's clear that we are far away from the vision of
Pakistan. The citizens of Pakistan, especially youth, are impatient and intolerant.
We see in our routine that there is a lack of patience in our society. We have
failed to remember the importance of peace. There is an attire needed to realize
that if Pakistan can be won through a peaceful political process, then we can also
resolve the issues of Pakistan through a peaceful process. Other than that, the
situation of law and order in Pakistan is pitiable. We have failed to get rid of evils
of corruption, bribery and injustice. Pakistan’s economic system is still based on
Western policies. Till now we are unable to evolve our own economic system
based on Islamic values. While in the foreign policy area Pakistan is trying to
establish friendly relations with the world. We can make Pakistan one of the
world’s best countries by remembering and following Quaid’s vision for Pakistan.
