WHAT I CAN DO: TASK 1

LITERATURE IS THE CULTURAL HERITAGE OF ALL HUMANITY

The abundance and diversity of Philippine literature developed in parallel with the
country's history. This is better understood in the light of the country's pre-colonial cultural
practices, as well as the sociopolitical backgrounds of its colonial and modern traditions.
As a grade 11 Filipino learner, I will illustrate adaptability to the diverse Philippines
Literary History by reading/seeing samples of any or all of the Philippine literary works. I
would do my utmost to evaluate literary works in our country so that I can acquire a lot of
insight about the subject. In addition, I may also share all of my insights about 21st Century
Literature from the Philippines and around the world with my peers, teachers, and family so
that they can develop an appreciation of all topics or lessons that literary has. All Filipino
people should recognize the significance of literary history because it is a part of our daily
lives and history in our country.
Our forefathers already had their literature, which reflected in their customs and
traditions. They had their alphabet even before they had colonized. The Spanish friars
burned their alphabet in the belief that they were works of the devil or were written on
materials that quickly perished, like the barks of trees, dried leaves, and bamboo cylinders,
which could not have remained firm even if efforts were made to preserve them. Our unique
geographic location is the reason why we are rich.
Above all, I’m also going to encourage myself to love and understand our literature.
Philippine literature was actually epic passed on from generation to generation. Philippines is
unique for having important works in many language and unique literature. As Filipino I will
respect and love our literature as a sign of respect in our ancestor.
The country’s rich repertoire of literary masterpieces may be rooted in the diverse
cultural heritage of the Filipino people. They have produced varied texts because of
differences. The mighty roar of the North and the fiery temperament of the South blended
well. The Filipinos speak of the collective experiences from the people who have gone
through difficulties, triumphs, struggles, successes, armed conflicts, bloodless revolutions,
and others. It is the reason why these masterpieces resonated loud and clear in the
Philippine archipelago.
As a Filipino reader, I am indeed affected by such works that endeavor to open the
minds of people on socio-political and moral issues confronting the country as I have a
strong nationalism, my homeland is Philippines. If I am ever given the authority to govern the
country, I will do everything in my power to confront and address my people using the same
tactic as the stories and text outlined in the module in a way for them to reflect and for me
also to appreciate the people I have, because I believe that a country without it’s people is
not a country. I was inspired to the stories to keep humanity alive and respect each and
everyone.
On the whole, Philippine regional literature has become rich and varied because of
the archipelagic nature of the Philippines, its geographical features, and the presence of
various ethno-linguistic groups in the country.
