INTRODUCTION

TRF, more than being a successful first generation business enterprise, is a


throbbing and passionate story of its people, values and indomitable spirit of
faith and innovation. It is the story of an ever-growing vibrant family that is
founded on ethics, anchored on humanism, energized by passion, driven by
the spirit of excellence and above all is in quest for immortality.
TRF is a fast growing global engineering organization with business interest
ranging from design to manufacturing of aggregates and systems related to
commercial. vehicles, passenger cars, construction and farm equipments
and a wide variety of automotive and off-highway equipments.
Mr.Ashim Roy from a humble beginning, scripted the story of the TRF in 1962
at Jamshedpur. Three decades later, headquartered at Pune, it has grown
into a pulsating institution with manufacturing setups at Jamshedpur, Pune,
Dharwad (Karnataka), Chennai, Pantnagar (Uttarakhand), Cuttack (Orissa)
and Homer (Michigan).
TRF comprises of six different companies, namely, TRF Transmissions (I)
Ltd., Miller Brothers Manufacturing (USA), I-Design Engineering Solutions
Ltd., International Auto Ltd., LTD. Construction & Agri Equipments Pvt. Ltd.
& I-Vitesse Technologies Pvt. Ltd.
All TRF manufacturing units are ISO/ TS16949, ISO: 14001 and OHSAS:
18001 certified.

OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

 The main objective of the project is to study the service departments of


TRF LTD.
 The first and the foremost important factor which forces this study is
the need of the hour to know about the practical aspects of the
functioning of an organization.
 This study is an attempt to study the organization as a whole.
 An in – depth analysis of various key functional areas of management.
 To study the manpower requirement and organization hierarchy.

LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY


 Time was the limitation.
 The scope of study is limited to TRF LTD. . Thus making the study
restricted to attainment of objective.
 Limited secondary data
 The findings are based on primary data collected from the
correspondents.

Any manufacturing activities require resource input in terms of men, machine,


material. and money. In any business that produced a product or service
production activity must be related to market demands as indicated by the
continuous stream of customers orders. For maximum effectiveness, this
must be done in such a way that customer demands are satisfied but at the
same time production activities are carried on in an manner.

The TRF Group comprises TRF Transmission (1) Ltd., International auto Ltd.,
I-design Engineering solution Ltd. I-Vitesse Pvt. Ltd. and MB Manufacturing
company, US. The Group companies function with the philosophy of providing
quality product and efficient services.

Global Refining Hub

India is emerging as the global hub for International auto Ltd with
capital costs lower by 25 to 50 per cent over other Asian countries.

Already, the fifth largest country in the world in terms of


International auto Ltd capacity, with a share of 3 per cent of the
global capacity, India is likely to boost its refining capacity by 45
per cent or 65.3 p/t over the next five years, according to a
Deutsche Bank report. Indian companies plan to increase their
refining capacity to 242 mmtpa by 2011-12 from about 178 p/t at
present.

Retail Sector

Increase in automobile sales has led to significant investments


being made to develop and expand the petroleum retail market.
According to US-based consultancy Keystone, automobile sales
are likely to grow to about 20 million a year by 2030 (from the
present 1 million), making India the third largest automobile market
in the world.

COMPANY PROFILE

TRF Group is India’s leading engineering and components manufacturing


business house catering to a wide variety of automotive components. It was
established in 1962, in Jamshedpur. Today, TRF Group is one of the largest
engineering and automotive components manufacturing entities in the
country. The Group has spread its wings to reach to its customers more
effectively by setting up five branches in India, seven manufacturing plants
and one in the Michigan, USA. The Group’s core capabilities range from
design to manufacturing of aggregates and systems related to commercial.
vehicles, passenger cars, and construction and farms equipments, wide
variety of automotive and off-highway equipments. The Group comprises five

First Group Company, International Auto was established in 1962 at
Jamshedpur with 15 people and 500 sqft. of work space Multiple
locations with a team size of 2,000 people and 85,000 sq. meters of work
space

& Managing Director Mr.Ashim Roy and Jt. Managing Director Mr.Rajan
