Manual

Intro

Dear customers!

We are glad to present you a short guide on using new version of InStat Scout Video Platform. The material contains
illustrations and print screens as well as descriptions of the functions demonstrated on these pictures. When using the
material you'll find the answers to most of your questions about how different InStat Scout functions work. However we
won’t cover here such issues as “how to analyze a match”, “how to prepare yourself to the next opponent” or “how to find a
new player for your team”. All of these questions can be explained by InStat’s managers during special presentations. Here
is just a technical instruction or “manual” on how to use InStat Scout’s functions.

23
Functions of Team profile
When you go to Team profile the following tools are available to you:

1 Creating a video summary for the team 3 Sides of attacks 5 Episode search

2 Goals typology 4 Set pieces crosses

1 5

2 3 4

24
Creating a video summary on the team
1 A video summary is a new tool in the InStat Scout platform, which allows to create an informative video summary on your future opponent in only a few clicks. It will include the
aspects of the opponent’s performance that you are interested in.

Tool interface consists of a top panel and fields, reflecting the following aspects of team’s performance:

· Attack
· Defense
· Counterattacks
· Opponent’s counterattacks
· Set-pieces attacks
· Opponent’s set-pieces attacks
· Penalty shots
To start working with this tool, left-click on the large button ‘Create the
· Opponent’s penalty shots
team playlist’ at the top of the team profile page.

a b с

First, you need to customize the settings in the top panel, namely:

a The number of episode replays

if the same episode relates to different aspects of the game, select how often it may be repeated in your video summary

Total duration of the summary

b This can be done by using the arrows allowing to increase or reduce the duration of the summary, that appear when you move the mouse cursor, or by typing in the numbers on the
keyboard. NOTE: if you want to fix the total time of the video, you need to click on the «lock» icon. In this case, when changing the number or duration of individual aspects of the game,
the total duration will not be changed.

с The number of matches subject for analysis

25
Next you can see the total number of episodes in the summary

By default, InStat offers its most optimal set of episodes on various aspects of team’s performance. But you always can change the content of the summary by increasing or reducing the duration
of the video on various aspects of the game.

For changing parameters left-click on your preferred aspect of the game for example the Attack (as in pic. After this different types of attacks, the number of episodes and the duration of the
video for these types will appear on the screen). When you move the cursor to a specific type of attack, you can change the number of episodes of this type included in the final summary
(with arrows on the left or the duration of the video) using the icons on the right. If you don’t need some types of attacks, you can remove them by clicking on them and deselecting; you can
also add the types of attacks to the final summary.
You can also choose the number of matches for analysis different from the one in the main summary. This is true, for example, for penalty shots, which are not usually analyzed on the basis of
last 5 matches, but on the matches throughout the season.
So, if you are satisfied with the changes made and do not want the system to change the duration or number of the episodes in this aspect fix the result by clicking on the "lock" icon next to
that action.
So after customizing all the settings, you can download or preview the summary by clicking on the relevant buttons at the bottom of the screen. Or go back to the match profile without
changes by clicking cancel.

26
Goals typology
2 There are diagrams of Goals typology in the upper left corner of the team profile under the name and the team’s logo. The diagram on the left refers to the goals scored by
the team, the right one refers to the goals the team conceded.

The diagrams are designed as follows:

2
• the blue sector shows the percentage of the goals scored after set pieces of the total number of goals
• the yellow sector shows the percentage of the goals scored after counterattacks of the total number of
goals
• the red sector shows the percentage of the goals scored after positional attacks of the total number of
goals

The arrows in flanks of attacks can be interpreted as follows:

• The length of an arrow indicates the average number of attacks the team creates in this direction per game (also this amount is specified below under the arrow, the first
digit)
• The height of the filled part of an arrow describes the efficiency of attacks developed in this direction - the percentage of attacks completed with shots (also this percentage
is specified below under the arrow, the second digit)

When you move the mouse cursor to the arrow, you can see the number of attacks per game and their efficien y + the average number of shots in attacks in this direction per game.

this zone per match)
Both options will be refl cted in the diagram and divided into 4 zones:

• to the near post

Finally, on the left side from the team profile page you can go
to team’s players’ profiles, as well as compare team’s players
with other players in the league. These tables can be
minimized by clicking on the arrow in the upper right corner of
the chart.

1 The match sheets work in exact same way as in the match profile section, and are explained in detail in the part Match sheet and short pdf match report.

Statistics in season dynamics is a two bar diagrams presenting the value of the selected parameters from left to right (from the first match of the season to the last one at
2 the moment). The dashed line represents the average season value of the parameter. When you move the mouse cursor to a column, you see the parameter in the match, when
you click on a column you get the detailed information about this parameter in this match.

3 When you click on ‘Show opponent’s statistics’ tab, the chart changes its form. By default, the lines in the chart show only the parameters on the chosen team in matches. When

How to go to Player profile
Player profile is the page in platform InStat Scout containing key statistics and video summaries on a specific player.
There are different ways of going to Player profile; you can find them in the following pictures:

The main way is clicking on the player’s name on different pages in InStat Scout.

34
Functions of Player profile
In general, Player profile has the interface similar to that of the Team profile that was explained in the previous part. But some tools in Player profile are available only for players, not for
the teams. Here are the functions and the sections of Player profile:

1
2

3
4

6 7

1 General information 4 Player’s skills 7 Level in own league

2 Main videos and episode search 5 Similar players, player’s career

3 Player’s position and action points 6 Player’s match chart

35
1 General information
Player’s general information next to his photo, in addition to the teams he played includes:

· Player’s average InStat Index this season

· Number of matches played in all tournaments
· Number of goals scored this season in all tournaments

Icon "cloud" or "add a comment" allows you to use the InStat comments system and write a report on the player.

"PDF" icon will allow you to create a quick report on the player, which will be as follows:

1 2

2 Main videos and episode search

In the upper right corner of the Player profile page there are the main videos of the player (full matches, all actions, goals, assists, best actions, mistakes), episodes search and
favorite playlists on the player.
These video summaries are played in InStat’s standard video player, and contain the number of episodes indicated on the relevant buttons.
Player’s best actions and his mistakes are determined by InStat specialists during the analysis of the matches according to specific methodological algorithm. However, these
best actions and mistakes may differ from the opinions of some InStat users, and this is obvious, since the opinions of InStat analysts and coaches may not be the same. Episode
search on the player works the same way as for a team, but there is no option of choosing other players.
Player’s playlists are part of the favorites system and will be further explained in more detail in the relevant part.

36
3 Player’s position and action points
Another small section of player's profile is his personal information and his action points. Note that player’s action points
are shown for his recent 5 matches, and player’s positions (percentages) are calculated based on his 50 recent matches.
Player’s strong foot and his control over the weaker foot are determined automatically, because every shot and pass
performed by a player has an additional characteristic – the foot it was performed with.
Please note that sometimes player’s anthropometric data may be missing. In this case, if you want to add the details of
your team’s player to our system, please contact the InStat representative, who works with you.

4
3

4 Player’s skills
Player’s skills reflect player’s skills in various aspects of his performance. The skills are the numbers from 0 to 100 and are different for a goalkeeper and for field players.
The skills on player profile page are presented as a bar diagram, as well as the tabs with skills titles to the right of the green columns.
When you move the cursor to the green column, a white button with the name of the skill corresponding to the column is highlighted. For watching the skill you can click on
both the column and the white button - the video will be played in InStat video player.
After clicking on the column or the button you are asked to select the period you need to be analyzed in terms of the action (recent performances, or the best of all time)

37
5 Similar players, player’s career points
On the left side of player's profile page there are services for Similar players and Player’s career.
Similar players is the list of players with position, skills, age and sometimes nationality and the championship similar to those of the selected player’s.
Player’s career contains the player’s basic statistics (matches, goals, cards) in the current season and in previous seasons of his career. Every season has an option of showing
the details of player’s performance and seeing the statistics of his performance in all the possible teams he played for in the selected season.
These charts can be minimized by clicking on the arrow in the upper right corner of the match table.

5 6

6 Player’s match table

The main part of the player profile page is player’s match chart. Player’s matches are lines in the table, and columns are player’s statistics parameters. At the top of the chart you can switch
the mode of displaying the matches in the table:

· All matches (even those that haven't been analyzed by InStat Statistics Department)

· Only with videos (ONLY analyzed by InStat Statistics Department)

When you left-click on the match, there are different options of watching the video (full match, ball in play, overview, goals), match sheet print or go to the Match
profile.
By clicking on the parameter in the table you go to watching the video summary on this parameter in InStatScout video player.

38
As well as in the match table Team profile allows to see match sheets, the diagram of statistics in season dynamics.

The match sheets work in exact same way as in the match profile section, and are explained in detail in Match sheet section and short pdf match report.

Statistics in season dynamics is a two bar diagrams presenting the value of the selected parameters from left to right (from the first match of the season to the last one at the moment). The
dashed line represents the average season value of the parameter. When you move the mouse cursor to a column, you see the parameter in the match, when you click on a column you get the
detailed information about this parameter in this match. A special feature of Player’s match table is a function of the player’s actions in various positions. If the player took several positions
during the match, by pressing the field with the positions you can choose the actions on the position you need. When you press one of the buttons in the pop-up window, you can see only the
actions you need.

Level in own league

7
Another function of the player profile is a function of comparing the player with other players in his league, age, nationality or position. This feature is available in the right
side of the player's profile page.
There are 5 players in each of the compared parameters: the first is a leader on the value in this category, in the middle - a player we have chosen, above and below him are
the players, with the values close to his.
If the player is the leader in some aspect or is the second in his league, he will be the first or the second among the 5 players.
To see detailed statistics for any category, press "go to the list of players" or as it is often called, the "three stripes" button. Read more about this feature in the relevant part.

39
Tournament profile
Tournament profile is the page in platform InStat Scout where you can find key statistics and video summaries on a specific tournament.
There are only two common ways of going to Tournament profile from flag search and searching bar. It is a rare case when you go to tournament profile by clicking on its
name.

Here is the page of Belgium Jupiler Pro League profile. You can find there:

1 Main videos and information of tournament (full

matches, reviews, goals, players’ profiles) 3 Different seasons standings

Level in own league

2 Matches schedule 4

1
2
3
4

All these functions and options work in quite similar way to the similar options in Team and Player profiles.

of the match, or all episodes in the video summary.

By clicking on the Rec button you activate the episode record from the time you press the button. Note that if you click on Rec when you pause the playback, Rec also activates the

Also to pause the recording and to continue you can use the space bar on the keyboard.
When you press the Rec button during recording it will be interrupted and the results will not be saved.

By clicking on its name you save the episode to Favorites. Moreover, its duration is determined by settings, by the number of seconds before and after clicking.
By clicking on the Rec button on the right side of the tag icon, you create an episode under this tag. In this case the length is determined as it was in a function of recording
episodes.

This will take you to the built-in editing software and will allow you to work with the frame on which you’ve paused the video. It works as follows:

There is the drawing toolbar at the top (a), on the right there are the object manager and layers manager (b), on the bottom there are navigation and saving
functions (c).

3. Draw the object by pressing the right mouse button directly at the frames, on which you’ve paused the video
4. Check the times the pause (gray box) and the drawing (yellow box) will take in the video below. They are recomended to be the same
5. Preview the video to see if everything is displayed correctly
6. If there is something you don’t like in the video, you can delete unwanted objects in the layer manager, change the settings for the time of pause and the drawing, or add
new objects.

7. After achieving the desirable result you can save the changes and exit by using the button below. Or exit without saving changes.

53
Once you have drawn something in an episode, yellow square drawing icon appears next to it in the Episode manager.

When you click on it you can go back to editing your drawing, or remove the drawing by pressing the "delete" button in the upper right corner of the yellow square.

Playlists
Working with playlists in Episode manager
The current version of InStat Scout contains a few tools that are extremely convenient for users to work with playlists (edit, create and manage the playlists).
Playlist is a set of episodes created by customer while working in InStat Scout. Basically every single video in the platform is reflected in the playlist mode. However not every playlist you work
with becomes a part of your InStat Scout profile. Sometimes you just share or download episodes as video files and quit without saving it to work with them in future..
If you want to save them as the playlist (not as video file) you need to add it to Your playlist.
The most common way of doing it is to add episodes to the playlists in Episode manager.

b a

a Activate your playlists tab clicking on the black tab on the right of the episode manager. You will see the list of your playlists. Drag and drop your episode to one of them.

b If you drag episode into the episode manager, playlist's title in episode manager will be changed to My playlist.

55
1 If you want to create a new playlist for episodes or folder for playlists you can do it right here by clicking on big plus button in the bottom of the tab.

You can also create, edit and delete playlists in Playlist tab of My profile
2 You can edit the name of playlist, number of playlists in folder, number of episodes in playlist, duration of playlist, date of the playlist’s creation; you can watch or delete playlist.
You can also add new folder in the left top corner of the screen.

56
Favorites
Favorites service is the special tool quite similar to playlists. The difference is that favorites playlists are not located in one place, they are related separately to players, teams and tournaments.

1 To add episode to favorites you can use the “star” icon near to episodes in episode manager (you choose the “color” of episode as in tags system and player/team/tournament
where the episode must go to).

2 The second option is to drag and drop it to My favorites folder in Your playlist tab.

57
1 After you add the episode to favorites you’ll find it in the right top corner of player/team/tournament profile.

58
Scouting services
Smart search
The main scouting tool allowing InStat Scout’s customers to search for players by different criteria is Smart search.

It is designed as the dark green line across the screen in the almost top of the page.

You can delete filters or add new ones, sort all the parameters in a way you want, go to the List of
players or to the players profiles and close Smart Search without saving the progress.

To sort parameters you can use not only the tool in the left top corner. Just click on the name of parameter in the top of the table and you can sort players by the parameter. You can sort players
by the sum of all skills chosen clicking on Skills fil er in the top of the table.

62
List of players (three lines)
You can proceed to the players’ profiles from the Smart search table but also you can go to Players list. For this you click the button “show a table” (or three lines as we call it). Player’s chart is
available not only from smart search but also from Level in own league or any page where you see this “three lines” icon.
