EXAM PREPARATION

(BEFORE; DURING; AFTER)

What is an exam?
An exam is a formal test that you take to show your knowledge or ability in a
particular subject or to obtain a qualification.

What is an examination skill?

An examination skill is a type of test of your knowledge or skills in a given area.

Examination strategies:
There are three strategies to being successful in examination and life:-

1. Planning:

The first and the most important thing that is required for success is planning.
Planning is the determination of ends and formulation of means.

2. Implementation:

The next step after the formulation of plan is its implementation. Your goal will be
achieved only when the plan is properly implemented.

3. Control:

Under this step we should compare the existing situation and desired situation
and if we find any deviation then we must improve upon it as soon as possible.

‘I’M POSSIBLE’ ‘’
PREPARATION STRATEGIES TO TACKLE EXAMINATION:
‘’Before anything else, PREPARATION is the key to
SUCCESS’’
1-Time management:
Plan your revision to ensure that you use your time to best advantage. When is
the best time of day for you-morning evening or afternoon? This will help you to
plan broadly what you intend to do.

2-Take regular breaks:

You cannot work solidly for 8 hours.in fact it is very hard to work in a
concentrated way. Take 10 minutes periodically to go and get a drink and walk
around a bit.

3-Look after yourself during study and exam preparation:

You will be able to work better if you eat a healthy diet, and get plenty of sleep.
This applies both during your exam period, and when you are revising. Surviving
on junk food is not a good idea.

4-Group studies:
Organizing a discussion group with some friends or other fellows may be effective
for exam preparation. It is very important because always new questions and
different answers arise by each and every person which is very helpful for
preparation.

5-Use flow charts and diagrams:

Visual aids can be especially helpful when revising study material. Closer to the
exam transform your revision notes in a diagram.in that manner the visual
remembrance can aid to your readiness considerably when taking the exam.
6-Practice an old exam:
One of the most effective ways to prepare for exams is to practice with an old
version of previous exams. Also an old test will help you see the format and
formulation of the questions and it will be good for exam preparation.

7-Make sure your study space is organized:

Make sure you have enough space on your desk to spread your books and notes.
Pay attention to details that can distract you and remove them from your study
space. Make sure that you feel comfortable in your study space that you are able
to focus. For some individuals, this may mean complete silence, while for others
listening to music helps.

8-Minimize distractions:
Turn off the TV, cell phone, computer, and other potential interruptions that
distract you.

9-Start your revision early:

There is no substitute for starting early with revision. You need to give yourself
enough time to review everything that you have studied, and make sure that you
understand it. Last minute cramming is much less productive.

10-Vary your revision techniques:

They say that variety is the spice of life, and certainly helps to improve your
studying.

11-Vary your locations:

Changing the location in which you study –for example, your room, the library
school or college a quiet café, or someone else’s house-is also good.
12-Drink plenty of water:
While studying for exams and even during on exam, it is advisable to drink water.
Remaining hydrated is vital and adds to your overall positive mood.
