PROJECT PROPOSAL OF AN INNOVATION

I. Title: ICT- Based Remedial Reading Instruction in Primary

Grades

II. Program Location: El Trino P. Zenarosa Elementary School Sabang, Vinzons,

Camarines Norte

III.Program Proponents: GLENDA B. ABAD- T1

MARY ANNE C. DEL BARRIO T-III
AGNES G. ACERON –TIII

IV. Time Frame: School Year 2015-2016

V. Background Information:

 Rationale:

Analyzing what the K12 Program can do to uplift the quality of education on
its fourth year, the promotion and the retention of pupils would probably be
something in focus. Pupils learn in different ways. There are late bloomers who need
special program of instruction in developing their skills especially in early reading.

In the recent years, educational researchers have found innovative instruction

through the employment of technology-based instruction as effective. Since ICT-
based instruction is based on the learning theory of Constructivism among others, it
can increase the learning achievement of pupils in early reading.

One rational program that may be implemented therefore is the use of the
technological devices that can be utilized in order to employ innovative instruction in
remedial reading using the ICT. The multi-media equipment will be utilized as the
means to promote multi-sensory learning in early reading.

Food plays a vital role in the development of the human brain, thus this
innovation will also provide nutritious snack for the pupils.

 Objectives:

- To employ technology-based instruction in remedial reading instruction

- To provide complete multi sensory learning materials in reading.

- To enhance communication skills of pupils in English.

 Target Clientele:

- Pupils with learning difficulties in early reading in Grades I ,II and III.

 Cost Estimate:

The expenses that will be incurred are to be shouldered by the generous

GPTA of El Trino P. Zenarosa Elementary School through its president, Mrs.
Elmie A. Antigua and the proponents.

 Mechanics

- Surveying of Technology-Based Instructional Materials that can be use in

the remedial reading

The proponents will have a survey on the available ICT-based

instructional materials such as DVDs or interactive instructional software
in the local and the international market through the internet. The basis for
the selection will be the targeted learning competencies of the K to 12
Curriculum. Coordination will also be made with possible suppliers /
agents of the instructional materials.

- Employment of Technology Instruction in remedial reading

The proponents will employ technology-based instruction using

the LEARNING TO READ SERIES DVD among selected pupils with
learning difficulties in reading under the K to 12 Curriculum. The
computer package from the Department of Education will be used to show
educational software. The Active Board and the LCD Projector will be
utilized in order to let the pupils experience learning through the
manipulative activities that are installed in the system.
.
 Expected Output

This innovation is expected to improve early reading abilities of

the pupils with reading difficulties. The proponents will also come up with
learning plans that are employing ICT in instruction suited for desired
learning competencies for the pupils with reading difficulties under the K
to 12 Curriculum.

VI. Evaluation

The program proponents shall conduct an action research to determine if

the innovation brings about a significant effect in enhancing reading skills of
pupils with reading difficulties.
