Fortinet opts to publish only a subset of performance numbers that are consistent with others in the
industry. Although we test all our products extensively, we choose to share these additional details with
customers as they are needed on a case-by-case basis.
Below is a list of the latest complete performance statistics for the FortiWeb family of WAFs.
HTTPS performance numbers are for SSL offload. If re-encrypt is required (such as in TTP mode) the
performance numbers will be lower. Contact your local Fortinet CSE for more information.
HTTPS Throughput 4K 25 Mbps 150 Mbps 400 Mbps 750 Mbps 1.3 Gbps 3.0 Gbps 10.0 Gbps
Max HTTPS trans/sec 4K 600 8,000 17,500 20,000 40,000 90,000 172,000
Max new HTTPS 4K
70 1,000 2,800 3,600 7,000 8,500 11,000
connections/sec
Max HTTPS concurrent 4K
20,000 60,000 90,000 700,000 700,000 700,000 1.5 M
connection
*Max new connections/sec (CPS) testing tries to gauge how fast TCP connections can be created and closed and therefore
uses small byte files. It is a good measurement for the platform’s maximum capacity but does not necessarily represent
real life scenario.
VM performance
Performance on virtualized systems vary significantly as the underlying HW changes from one customer
to another with various HW components impacting different performance metrics. It is therefore difficult
to provide baseline performance that would allow customers to conclude what the performance would
look like on their systems. We therefore try to keep our published data simple with throughput only.
