Words which modify the meaning of a verb are known as adverbs.
Adverbs of time show us when actions happen. For example,
 He reached home late.
Adverbs of manner show us how actions happen. For example,
 He speaks loudly.
Adverbs of place tell us where actions happen. For example,
 She went outside.
Adverbs also modify adjectives and other adverbs.

Example:
 This coffee is too sweet.
 She ran very fast.

Adverbs of Frequency
The words never, always, and normally and the phrases once a week and hardly ever tell us
how often an action takes place. These are adverbs of frequency.

Adverbs of Degree
The words hardly, extremely, quite, and very modify the adverbs or adjectives used in the
sentences. They describe verbs, adverbs, or adjectives. They tell us how much or to what
extent or degree something is happening. They are called adverbs of degree.
