ABSTRACT

Education is an industry which will always have a never-ending supply of input, producing an
equally long string of output. The game changer is the process, the infrastructure, platform and the
experience. SKILLVERTEX is an educator, an asset-light University with three major pillars in its
vision for the future of education: DREAM HIGH, ACHIEVE HIGHER, Those who have the
necessary intellectual resources and facilities to develop themselves and understand concepts. These
students, while willing to pursue their education, lack either the resources or worse, the right kind of
exposure and teaching methodologies. As a market for the SKILLVERTEX, is an obvious choice.
The education sector is relatively untouched, still a ‘blue ocean’ and at the same time, the ambition to
do well and compete directly with developed nations is rooted in the hearts of the masses. The
organization constantly researches on the top notch teaching methodologies and cutting edge
technology to package the right kind of education for the relevant students. As a Management
Trainee, I was trained for four different roles: Operations Executive, Business Development,
Marketing and Organizational Development. A detailed description of each of the roles and my key
responsibilities have been given in the various chapters and sub-topics in this report. This report is a
summary of the tasks accomplished by me on the project entitled “BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
INTERN” in my capacity as a Management Trainee at SKILLVERTEX. It contains details pertaining
to the technical, functional and non-functional aspects of the project and my training. It also gives an
in-depth explanation of the methodology and procedure used, why they were chosen, how it is being
worked upon along with plans for the future.

Accountability is a major topic in today's education world. However, the word accountability
conjures up images of rewards and sanctions imposed by an external force. Responsibility is
internally driven rather than externally imposed.

There has been a tendency to assume that nurturing communities or schools based on caring are
somehow contradictory to the tenets of accountability, i.e., ensuring excellence in learning. In
fact, it is in nurturing communities of learning that young people can freely actualize their human
striving to excel, to be the best they can be. In partnership schools/programs, staff have a deep

Partnership Education recognizes that excellence in learning is connected to long-range personal

In the future, artificial intelligence (AI) is likely to substantially change both marketing strategies
and customer behaviors. Building from not only extant research but also extensive interactions
with practice, the authors propose a multidimensional framework for understanding the impact of
AI involving intelligence levels, task types, and whether AI is embedded in a robot. Prior
research typically addresses a subset of these dimensions; this paper integrates all three into a
single framework. Next, the authors propose a research agenda that addresses not only how
marketing strategies and customer behaviors will change in the future, but also highlights
important policy questions relating to privacy, bias and ethics. Finally, the authors suggest AI
will be more effective if it augments (rather than replaces) human managers.

1.2 Various Departments and their functions:

During the course of my Industrial training, I was trained for the following roles with each one
having different objectives and responsibilities:

Business Development: For Business Development, it is responsible for reaching out to


different organizations and businesses in order to tie up with them to provide them an enriched
learning experience. This would involve routine calls, heavily relying on networking and my
ability to be able to market the novel concept to the business owners.

Organizational Development: This majorly had concerns with the business model and it’s
long term sustainability and understand the fosterers and hinders for the organizational growth. I
practiced organizational psychology to experiment various practices in the operations vertical to
boost results.

OPERATIONS EXECUTIVE: My role is engaging in any business activity as a full-time


employee of a company that involves the direct management, supervision or performance of the
ongoing development, production, marketing, sales or service of and for technologies,
products or services.

Marketing: For marketing our product, that is the SKILLVERTEX program, to our customers
and leads effectively, the chief requirement was good quality content on both our blog and
websites. I worked on developing high quality written content for our linkedin, blog,
Facebook and Instagram posts.

2.Introduction of the project undertaken
SkillVertex provides a load of opportunities to learn and experience skills that you have
never possessed. An individual can go for Sales, Operations, Hiring etc.

2.1 Objectives of the work Undertaken


Being a Operations executive intern at SkillVertex is one of the biggest responsibilities I
have ever had, I dealt with it through shear patience and made myself what I am today. The
leads/institutes who manage to pass the quires to the Campus Ambassador team. The Campus
Ambassador team pays special attention to every client/institute allotted to him or her. In the
initial phase of the conversation, there is a basic ‘vision alignment’ where our clients open up
about their concerns and how SKILLVERTEX will solve their issues. These institutes/clients
are handled through emails and compelling messages until they are conditioned to be counseled.

For us to nurture properly and deliver the right kind of methodologies and solutions,
intimacy of the institute is required and there are a few standard operational procedures
followed for the same.

Phase1: Introduction And Counselling:

In this phase, the customer discovers about SKILLVERTEX through various sources
like Facebook, Instagram, word-of-mouth from their schools, friends and
stakeholders.
Customers are contacted by the Campus Ambassador. After which the Campus Ambassador
team takes charge Here, the Campus Ambassador team really gets to know the institute and
their profile, ambitions and academic background along with the financial standing at the time.

Phase2: Institute Analysis:

The Operations team then processes the data and measures it against various factors to
understand the effects of the actions. Multiple graphs are drawn determining the changes each
practice is leading to in the institute. Most of the times a trend is observed leading to the
practices and methodologies in the institute. The fosterers and hinderers are identified and a
final report is carefully chosen and thoughtfully organized.

PHASE 4: ITERATION:

This report generated by the OPERATIONS team is discussed upon two sessions with the
client and their management board.

PHASE 5: DELIVERY:

Once the clients are on boarded with the Campus Ambassadors, the delivery team along with
the institute’s management team starts introducing the refined methodologies and technical
advancements for the institute. Frequent visits are made to deliver sessions to teachers and
students as well, ensuring the change management process.

PHASE 6: REVIEW PERIOD:

6-8 months from the delivery period, the introduced changes and processes are under observation to check the
efficiency and timely feedback form the stakeholders of the institute

Scope of the Work:

Every skill that we learn, or gain have different scopes and each skill plays a vital role, The
Scope of the work is to basically improve the education standards in underdeveloped private
institutes. In a country where we believe education is the key to success and being the highest
populated country in the age groups of 6-18. The education methodologies and practices have a
deliberate need to be updated and relevant. Improper education methodologies can actually
cause more harm to a student. Solving the problem of mismanagement and poor conditioning of
schools the aim is to create suitable environment for the younger generations to live the best
phase of their lives with proper education and conditioning. India and many populated countries
have large number of schools, but many of them still run outdated methods and poor
conditioning for students.

The scope of every skill is mention below:

Coordination: Coordination is very essential in management. Business has various functions.


These functions are performed by different individuals. Moreover, performance of these
functions requires division of work and grouping of activities and making decisions at
different levels.

All these necessitate co-ordination for attaining the desired goals. Co-ordination is concerned
with synchronizing, integrating or unifying all the group actions in an enterprise to achieve its
objectives. It is a process by which the manager achieves harmonious group efforts and unity
of actions through balancing the activities of different individuals and groups of individuals
and reconciling their differences in interest or approach, for the attainment of common goals.
In the words of McFarland,

“Co-ordination is the process whereby an executive develops an orderly pattern of group


efforts among his subordinates and secures unity of actions in the pursuit of a common
purpose.”

Problem Solving: Having good, strong problem-solving skills can make a huge difference
to your career. Problems are at the center of what many people do at work every day. Whether
you are solving a problem for a client (internal or external), supporting those who are solving
problems, or discovering new problems to solve, the problems you face can be large or small,
simple or complex, and easy or difficult.

A fundamental part of every role is finding ways to solve them. So, being a confident problem
solver is important to your success. Much of that confidence comes from having a good
process to use when approaching a problem. With one, you can solve problems quickly and
effectively. Without one, your solutions may be ineffective, or you will get stuck and do
nothing, with sometimes painful consequences.

There are four basic steps in solving a problem:

A Business Development Intern should have these skills and the scope of this skill is also not
limited to just one field. The thing is that this skill can be applied to almost all the works you do
whether its coding, application development, management or anything Problem Solving is

2.2 Importance and Applicability:

There are a lot of applications for every skill we learn:

We tend to have ample knowledge about various careers and career opportunities. Our
responsibilities include maintaining a school's curriculum by identifying and providing student
needs, improving school needs, holding school meetings, and monitoring the teacher
performances. The education consultants also generally answer the student questions on
various career options, curriculum, etc.

They also many a times develop instructional materials, provide guidelines to instructors,
incorporate current technology, coordinate educational content, and develop the curriculum.
The main responsibilities of our organization is identifying the student needs. After
understanding the student requirements, the education consultants undertake proper research for
detecting the areas that need improvement. He or she then implements necessary changes and
ensures that the changes are effective. While identifying the student needs and solving them.

The education consultant unearths new findings that may help in improving the school
programs. The education consultant may even engage in a variety of activities to maximize
the productivity and ensure student success.

The education consultants play a major role in purchasing new educational books, computer
software, and other essential student requirements. He or she may also arrange for various
training courses to enhance the teaching capabilities of the teachers. The education consultants
are even responsible for interacting with the staff to understand the essential requirements of
the students as well as the organization. They conduct periodic meetings to ensure that the
different departments within the school cooperate with each other in any common job duties.

We deal and come across through a lot of institutes with poor educational methodologies and
conditioning. According to the statistics in only Punjab region 67% of schools and 53% of
colleges run obsolete educational processes.

There are a lot of schools who need proper guidance in terms of the operations. Education is
now foreseen as a good business opportunity and the right care isn’t been taken in establishing
one, whereas the prime objective must be quality of education.

There are a lot of applications for every skill we learn:

Coordination: Coordination have different applications in corporate world.

Coordination can be applied in various team coordination just like coordinating between
operation and sales team. Coordination is a vital part in a company, without coordination
a company’s functioning will stop and due to collapses and delay in deadlines finally the
operations of the company will stop, and the company will get closed.

Coordination can be applied in Software development as well where we create different


classes to access different types of data and then with these classes, we coordinate the data
types to provide the input.

Problem Solving: Problem Solving have different applications in corporate world.

Problem solving can be applied to various fields as well like resolving the issues of clients
and getting the things done for the clients.

Problem solving can be applied to architecture filed for knowing the exact material for
building or client management in some sales company. It can be applied in coding or software
development as well.

Training: Training or teaching has been there for ages and we all know what its applications are:

MNCs recruit different candidates and then train them according to their demands so they can work for the
welfare of the company

In today’s Ed Tech world, the companies have online training the clients and candidates so they
can bring more business.

In SkillVertex we use to train students and trainers on different technologies like Android and
Java etc.

Application of every skill are different but the skills that we4 learnt during the internship can
be applied to anywhere in any industry. All the skills play a vital role and have its own
importance in life. The skills like coordination, training and problem-solving shows how much
you are capable of, your dedication level and how you deal with the difficult situation. It
creates a sense of understanding that the person who can coordinate between different
members of different teams, can lead a team as well.

It is also clear that a person who is having good problem-solving ability can showcase the skill
in front of any interviewer or can-do coding using the ability and he can solve complex
problems as well.
All the skills we learn can be applied anywhere in industry and they all play a vital role in all
personality development.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF WORK DONE:

Position of Internship and roles:

Being a Operation Executive Intern at SkillVertex is one of the biggest responsibilities I have
ever had . I dealt with it through shear patience and made myself what I am today.

There are a lot of roles in the work of a Operations Executive and some of them are under listed
below:

As the Operation Executive Intern, I was accountable for curating customizable report out of
the accumulated data from the Campus Ambassador team in regards to the educational
institutes. The specificity of the report is highly confidential and is only discussed with the
client and the management strictly. Hence, I also hold responsibility for the data security.

Throughout the internship, I could constantly focus on the Operations Executive part, everyday
trying to understand new scales and comparatives. For the report, every parameter needs to be
quantified. Hence I had to understand how intangibles could be converted to tangibles.

Google sheets, MS excel were the predominantly used platforms before I joined the
organization. But I have also improved the quality of work and reports. The clients have also
appreciated the organization for providing better report on their institutes.

On the organization development aspect, I could infer a lot about the real time functioning of a
company. The growth projects development has given me many perspectives about designing
projects for a company

Coordinating: The most important and most vital objective of the work of a Operation
Executive is coordinating. If the Operation Executive is having a capability to coordinate
between different tasks at the same time he is into the right zone. As a Operation Executive we
must coordinate between different teams, between various departments and at last between CEO
and team leaders.

Resolving Issues: The second most important objective for the work of a Operation Executive
is that he should be able to resolve issues. He should have a temper to understand the problems
of the client and intelligence to provide the necessary details and solution for the problem. He
should also be able to take the problem forward and address it to the team leader so that they can
guide him with the proper steps and should also look that the same problem should not
arise again with the same conditions.

Hiring Manager:

Among various roles played in this internship, Hiring is one more interesting responsibility
which I have led once. Despite not having any prior experience in hiring a candidate, I
performed the job with perfection.

Short-listing applications: selection of only a set of eligible applications from a big pile of
applicants from Linkedin is not at an easy job. There were hundreds of applicants from
different backgrounds, from where I should be selecting only a set of people who can fulfill the
job purpose i.e. Campus ambassador.

Conducting Telephonic Interviews: After having an eligible bunch of short-listed


applications, I called each and everyone to inform some things about SkillVertex,
responsibilities of the role and ask them a few questions about their qualification and future.
It took a lot of patience and effort in calling everyone along with making sure that their
responses are recorded and compared with the expected outputs.

After Conducting Interview on above activities, I finally submitted a list of people who
are selected as Campus Ambassador.

3.1 Activities/ Equipment handled

I had the opportunity to go on field visits to various institutes near to my region to understand
the institutions methods and methodologies. A few times I could interact with higher
authorities/Placement cell to understand the root causes for following a particular method in
their institutes.

In order to sell the products of the company to the students in the institutes near tome. I need to
make contact to the authorities of the institutions through mails and after with their acceptance i
will reach out to the students of the institutes and give them description and information
about the company products.

After giving proper information i will choose a campus ambassador among the students in the
institution with that campus ambassador i will instruct him to build a team in the institute.

Building a team in the institution campus ambassador needs to reach the target to sell the
company products to the students and moreover they need to provide various benefits and
explains to the costumers to look into websites and into various online platforms and portals of
my company.

After all by the end of the week i need to show the net worth of the sales done during that
particular period of the time given to me. I need to strive to get minimum of 25,000 rupees net
worth of sales to be done in particular week same data should provide to the Higher
Authorities in my Organization.

As a Operation Executive I handled a lot of activities at the Vertocity. Some of the activities are:

Coordination: Coordination between different teams and team member was my most important
activity. The Operation Executive must get information from one end and pass it to the other.

Problem solving: Another important activity that is must for a Operation Executive is to handle
and resolve problems that arise internally within the company or raised by Campus ambassador.

3.2 Challenges faced and how those were tackled:

There were a lot of challenges faced during the internship some of them are mentioned below:

 At first i felt tensed and nervous to interact with costumers to sell products and handle
the designation role that organization handles to me . But later i came across over those
and managed to fulfill the company requirements..
 Time flexibility is one of the other challenges. We have to work Continuously work
from morning to night.

 Going for online access field visits for a couple of time was good, yet handling the
wholesome through online communicating process, which was a bit exhaustive but the
company made sure I was comfortable, though I was an intern.

In all to all we faced a lot of challenges and we tackled them away using the guidance provided by
our mentors and our team leaders. We used to coordinate between the teams and us and we used to
discuss the problems together

Learning Outcomes

This whole internship was a whole great learning experience, we get to know so many
new things, we learnt about different prospects and different works of an Organization.

Some of the learning’s are mentioned below:

 Team Management: Team Management is a skill that is becoming necessary in the


corporate world. We were given a lot of experience in handling the team members,
listening to their issues, solving them and providing feasible solution.

 Client Handling: Client Handling is one other outcome that we got from this internship.
We had opportunities where we talked to clients on our own, addressed their issues and
got them fixed. We even pitched them for other modules in the courses.

 Time Management: This is one of the most important skill we learnt during the
internship. in these internship all to all it gave us the idea of how to handle the time and
manage it so that we can do of all our work in limited time.

 Problem Solving: problem solving is yet another skill we leant. It lets us tackle any
difficult or complex task to be solved very easily. We were asked to give cut to cut
solution to a lot of problem while interning at the company.

Communication skills: As the job involves communication with different individuals from students
this brings a rapid development in my communication and speaking skills. This helps me in dealing
with persons with different ideologies and mentalities at different times

 Industrial experience: In my past 4 months of internship in this ed-tech platform made


me gain a lot of real-time industrial experience. As Vertocity is one of the fastest
growing start-ups, which was just some months old, it enabled me to closely observe
how a start- up work and how our contribution can develop the firm in many ways.

 Commitment and Patience: Dealing with different things at same point of time with
peace was a problem which I was facing a lot before this internship, but tasks assigned
always made me harness my patience and commitment toward my work, which made
me become more patient and committed to whatever I do.
