The Ten Commandments of God

Which commandment is the great commandment in the Law?

Jesus said, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God
with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’
This is the first and greatest commandment.
And the second one is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets” (Matt. 22:36-40).

Exodus Twenty
I. I am the LORD your God, Who brought you out of the land of
Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other
gods before Me.
II. You shall not make for yourselves any graven image, or any
likeness of anything that is in the heavens above, or that is
in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters under the earth.
You shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them,
for I, the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the
iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and
fourth generation of those who hate Me, but showing
mercy to thousands of those who love Me and keep My
commandments.
III. You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for
the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in
vain.
IV. Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. Six days you shall
labor and do all your work. But the seventh day is the Sab-
bath of the LORD your God. In it you shall not do any work,
you, nor your son, nor your daughter; your manservant, nor
your maidservant, nor your livestock, nor the stranger
within your gates; for in six days the LORD made the heaven
and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the
seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day
and sanctified it.
V. Honor your father and your mother so that your days may be
long upon the land which the LORD your God gives you.
VI. You shall not murder.
VII. You shall not commit adultery.
VIII. You shall not steal.
IX. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
X. You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not
covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his
maidservant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that
is your neighbor’s (Ex. 20:2-17).
