1.0 SCOPE
This specification covers the requirements for cast or wrought 17-4 PH precipitation hardening
stainless steel components that are used in thrust bearing manufacturing.

4.0 PRODUCT ASSURANCE


4.1 A certified test report, showing mechanical and physical properties shall be submitted to
Schlumberger Quality.
4.2 The casting shall conform to the dimensions on the casting print. Surfaces of the
castings shall be free of burnt-on sand, smooth and well cleaned. Runners, risers, fins
and other useless cast-on pieces shall be removed.
4.3 The casting shall be homogenous and free from shrinkage cracks, blowholes, sand holes,
hard spots, foreign matter and other injurious defects and shall not expose defects
when machining.
4.4 Sample castings from new or reworked patterns shall be approved by Schlumberger
prior to production release.

5.0 PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY


5.1 Packaging
Parts made from this material shall be packaged in standard commercial containers so
constructed as to ensure acceptance by common or other carriers for safe transportation
at the lowest rate to the point of delivery, unless otherwise specified.
5.2 Marking
Each shipping container shall be marked in accordance with the current D.O.T.
regulations outlined in 49 CFR 172.300, as well as current OSHA regulations outlined in
29CFR 1910.1200. In addition, each shipping container shall be legibly marked with the
following information:
Schlumberger Purchase Order Number
Schlumberger Part Number
Ma ufacturer’s Na e or Mark
Quantity
Trade Name or Material
