Identify what specific roles and functions should be performed by the community health
nurse to improve the health of the individual, family, population groups, and the
community in the film?

Though reported that there have been occasions wherein medical care have been provided to
residents located in some areas near Sitio Cuayan, it is evident that there is an insufficient
amount of care and support given to those in the local areas. This is why nurses need to
become more efficient when it comes to becoming a Healthcare Provider. Another concern is
the tribe’s lack of knowledge regarding the topic of medication for their conditions, they need
nurses who will act as Health Educators to become more open to the idea of receiving care.
Through various programs, and organizing the community they may be introduced to these
modern medications so that one day their problems can be put to a stop. Although this might
pose as a challenge considering they have certain beliefs within their own community that
rejects modern medicine as an answer to their problem, and that in teaching them there will be
some ethical concern, ways to help them become knowledgeable should be given great
thought, and that these challenges shall not stop the nurses to become Client Advocates for
the residents of Sitio Cuayan.

The community health nurses also have the role of being a Community Organizer. By being
one, they will be able to motivate the members of the community to participate and be involved
in the process of planning and organizing health services that would benefit everyone
concerned. The nurses must ensure that these health services and programs are to be
implemented well, which makes them Program Implementers too. This function plays a crucial
role because the quality of implementation highly affects the outcomes of the programs. If a
program is implemented effectively, achieving the desired outcomes and goals is more likely to
occur. Community health nurses must also have the quality of a leader. As leaders, the nurses
must direct the members of the community to make sure that changes will be made to positively
affect people’s health. The health status of the communities must also be constantly monitored
by doing visits or surveys. Community health nurses become researchers or epidemiologists
by conducting research in order to identify health-related issues concerning the community. By
doing so, they may be able to identify any existing problem and immediately find ways to solve
them in order to promote the health of individuals, families, and the entire community.
