This study utilized the descriptive-method survey method. This method determines or
describes the nature of an object. The process of descriptive research goes beyond mere
gathering and tabulation of data. It involves the elements of interpretations of meaning or
significant of what is described. In this study, it described the profile of the participants and it
looked into the significant difference and relationship in the factors that affect students’ decision
in choosing their college courses.

Introduction
Your career starts in when you enter your own field of study. Thus, choosing your
college course is the first leap on your journey to a well landing job. Taking the direct path to
your dream job will conserve your money, time, effort most especially your morale.
According to Ahmed, Sharif, and Amad (2017), career defined as the educational,
commercial, and industrial activity that a person may adopt during his educational life or in some
other part or till his death. It also clarifies career as the application of a person’s cognition and
capabilities, providing command over profession, timely work expertise and a basis for
developing and bettering business networks. Individuals chose career planning to pursue the
professional objectives, getting informed about upcoming opportunities, their results and their
timely evaluations.
One domain of life in which uncertainty plays a significant role is that of career decisions
(Amir and Gati, 2006). Deciding of the career is one of the most important aspects of an
individual’s development and personal happiness. According to Creed and Paton (2001), making
decisions regarding a career is an important task for the students. Not all students can make
career decision easily, and many experience episodes of making episodes before settling on a
career path.
Today, one has not only to make due career planning but also exhaustive career research
before making a choice so as to adjust with the evolving socio-economic conditions (Wattles,
2009). Similarly, Edward (2010) enunciated that career choice is a complex decision for student
since it determines the kind of profession that they intend to pursue in life. As students try to
make career choice while in secondary school, they face problem of matching their career
choices with their abilities and school performance. However, Villar (2009) reasoned out that
most of the students who are in secondary schools do not have accurate information about
Hence, career selection is one of many important choices that students will make in
determining their future plans. It becomes one of the biggest dilemma and challenge in any
student’s life. It involves interplay of many factors which are intricately intertwined. It is not a
straight forward task and involves a difficult process of decision making. This issue is not
confined to one aspect only but it is universal in nature. The factors affecting their choice might
have different weight in the choice of a major. The right career choice for the students entering
into the professional education is critical having high impact throughout their lives. It is therefore
that choosing a career is an extremely important decision that impacts an individual’s entire
future.
One wrong decision can change the fate of an individual. It is difficult for everyone to
make a decision regarding their career. This individual action is manifested on a larger scale in
economic prosperity of a nation. Individuals who are misfits in their workplace tend to be less
productive and efficient, and therefore are unable to achieve their goals.
Olaosebikan and Olusakin (2014) have suggested that exploring career options before
committing to a career increases future success and satisfaction. Thus, variables that influence
The aforementioned situations motivated the researchers to conduct the study on career
choice of Grade 12 Senior High school students in Pinamukan Integrated School which aim to
identify and determine the factors affecting their career choice. The results and findings of the
study will hopefully provide the students with experiences that expand the exploration process
and a wide range of career information on all the available careers so that they may be able to
explore widely before making their choices. More importantly, the study will provide updated
evidence-based data to schools and universities as benchmark data for Senior High curricular

Research Design
The study used a descriptive-causality research design. The research findings are
described based on the data gathered and analyzed. The findings are tested to determine the
factorial variables affecting the career preferences of Grade 12 Senior High School Students of
Pinamukan Integrated School.
Instrumentation
The researchers prepared tools and instruments to pursue the objectives of the
study. The instrument would be mainly questionnaires and observation forms to collect data and
answers from the target respondents.
The questionnaires included open-ended questions or the essay type questions to allow
respondents to include more information, including their feelings, attitudes, and understanding of
the topic. It also included a close- ended questions which includes multiple response questions
and dichotomous questions.

Introduction
The goal of school system is to ensure equal education outcomes and academic
achievements for all students. However, there is a struggle to extend equal educational outcomes
and academic achievement to population that may be considered at risk (Harris & Allgood, 2009;
Kiselic. Gorczynski, & Capps, 1998); like pregnant or parenting teen girls. Teenage motherhood
is a global phenomenon affecting both developed and developing countries (Treffer, 2003) and is
Teenage pregnancy is the pregnancy occurring in a young girl between the age of 13 and
19 (Spencer, 2011), whereas Macleod (2011) defines it as a social problem in which adult
practices and functions (sexual intercourse, reproduction, mothering) are displayed by a person
who owing to her age and developmental status, is not yet adult, but not adult, child, but not
child.
One of the most traumatic and devastating effects of teenage pregnancy is making it
difficult for the girl to continue with her education. It has been observed that teenage pregnancy
has remained persistent in our local communities due to various contributing factors and has had
Panday et al (2009) affirm that teenage mothers are unlikely to complete high school
education. Increased risk of dropping out school is seemingly a core barrier to education
The increased inability to successfully navigate through school and complete high school
has far reaching consequences. Failure to obtain at least a high school diploma negatively
impacts employability and overall employment outcomes. A teen mother is likely to struggle to
attain and retain employment and is likely to earn lower wages (Young et al. 2004).
This study aims to identify and determine the impact of increasing population of teenage
pregnancy to the students of Pinamukan Integrated School. The findings of this study will
provide the students with knowledge about the consequences of being a teenage mother.
