ASSESSMENT AND APPLICATION
Using a concept map write down three institutions that you think have big
effects on your concept of your “self”. Then, write down what those effects are
(i.e., attitude, behavior, expression, likes and dislikes, beliefs, and so on).

Social Institution: RELIGION/CHURCH

Effects to your “Self”:

This is where my behavior changed. This
helps me how to act appropriately, how to
think positively, and how to react properly
with the things that happens. Also, this
social institution helped me grow spiritually
and have faith with the Lord.

Social Institution: KINSHIP/FAMILY

Effects to your “Self”:

In this social institution is where I first learn
basic knowledge like how to act in public and
where I first learned what is right and wrong.

Social Institution: EDUCATION/SCHOOL

Effects to your “Self”:

This institution helps me to have more
knowledge and taught me different lessons
that will be beneficial to my future. This
also helps me apply the basic knowledge I
learned from my family how to socialize
well with others.
What could be the things you are doing that help transform the institutions
you have written on the previous page? Cite one example of institution.

A. Answer:
I am obeying the Lord and also my Pastor. I am also helping my fellow young
people in the church and encourage them. I am also performing the
responsibilities of being a worker in the church.
Example: Our church – FIBCT – CRUZ

B. Answer:
I am an obedient grandson to my grandmother. I am also helping my family
in doing house chores.
Example: Extended Family (I am living with my grandmother, aunt, cousin
and my sister)

C. Answer:
I am doing my best to learn and I am doing my best to be a responsible
student by applying the things I learned in my life.
Example: College institution (Tertiary Education)
