1. How and why does Hard Rock’s approach to motivating people work?

What has Hard Rock done


to lower employee turnover to half the industry average?

Employee satisfaction is a key matter for Hard Rock. They have an employee bill of rights, that
guarantees the employees rights. To make sure that the team is integral Hard Rock always hires the
best qualified person, not the best availible. For motivation, Hard Rock gives a rolex watch to every
employee after 10 years of working. HR aims to create a family spirit among the staff by organising
charity events. All these measures make employees stay working in HR longer than in any other
dining company.

2. What problems does this system create for management and the employees?

Human resources strategy may be expensive nad difficult to achieve and hard to sustain.

3. How would Hard Rock's value system work for automobile assembly line workers? (Hint:
Consider Hackman and Oldham's core jobe characteristics)

Hackman Oldham’s core job characteristic says that high motivation is related to experiencing three
psychological states during work. First is meaningful of work, second is responsibility and third is
knowledge of outcomes. It will be difficult to adapt HR model to automobile industry because there
is no so close contact with customer for most of the workers, and HR approach is all client oriented.
Automobile industry has a much longer production period and the customer is at the very end of the
process.

4. How might you adjust a traditional assembly line to address more "core job characteristics"?

Workers should get a basic training about the product they product, about the key goals of the
factory and the most important why they matter and what exactly are they responsible for. This will
make them realize that they really matter and let them focus on doing their job the best they can.

5. What types of employees would be happy working at Hard Rock?

Definitely rock fans and sociable, easy-going people who love to talk and entertain. They should also
like to work in group environment and be highly motivated.

7. What does Hard Rock's human resource department support the company's overall strategy?

It supports the company by providing highly motivated and satisfied workers. The will improve the
customer experience which is the key goal of Hard Rock. Satisfied clients will advertise Hard Rock to
other potential clients based on their own experience.
