Energy efficiency labelling for wall and floor fans

0 INTRODUCTION

The purpose of the specified energy efficiency labelling is to report the efficiency class for wall and
floor fans with values and parameters of tests s pursuant to these regulations.

In the label, efficiency is classified by a comparative system composed of classes identified with letters
A, B, C, D and E; A being the most energy efficient for wall and floor fans, G the least efficient.

1 SCOPE AND FIELD OF APPLICATION

1.1 This regulation establishes the methodology to determine the energy efficiency for wall and floor
fans, the test method and the characteristics of the energy efficiency labelling.

This regulation must not be applied to ceiling or exhaust fans.

1.2 The purpose of the specified energy efficiency labelling is to report to the consumer the energy
efficiency class, wall and floor fans energy consumption, energy efficiency, flow stability, fan wheel
diameter and noise, pursuant to values and parameters of tests regarding these regulations.

1.3 This regulation is applied to electric mains operated wall and floor fans for models with a diameter
of fan wheel greater than or equal to 25 centimeters (tolerance=-1 centimeter) and less than or equal to
60 cm (tolerance= +1 cm).

2 NORMATIVE DOCUMENTS FOR CONSULTATION

The following documents, in whole or in part, are normatively referenced in this document and are
indispensable for its application.

7.4 Test procedure for power and air flow measuring

Power and air flow values must be measured for maximum speed of the device.

Device must be preheated at the maximum speed during 30 minutes before the beginning of the test.

You must register simultaneously in every anemometer 600 reading intervals of 1 s.

Speed value of the adopted airflow must be the average value of arithmetic measurements of reading
intervals of every anemometer.

7.5 Air flow calculation

Arithmetic average of speed for every anemometer must be measured

Measurements must be registered in a minimum quantity of 600 reading intervals and they might
reach 3,000 to acquire air flow stability.

Stability must be considered it was obtained when average variations of the reading intervals are less
than 5% according to indications in Annex C.

When air flow stability is obtained, air flow measurements used to for calculations with a minimum of
600 reading intervals.

You must make the calculation of the average of these values (arithmetical average) so as to obtain the
representative value of air speed produced by the device through the following formula:

Vai  V n

being:

Vn speed measured in meter per second (m/s)

minimum)

Vai average speed registered by anemometer i (m/s)

For average speed calculation the following formula must be performed:

V ai
Vavergae  i1

being:

V average average speed obtained as the average of the arithmetic averages in each
anemomemter in meter per second (m/s).

Air flow device is determined by the following equation:

q = Vaverage  0.2827

being:

q air flow device in cubic meter per second (m3/s);

0.2827 duct’s transversal área, with a diameter of 0.6 m expressed in square meter (m2).

7.6 Energy efficiency calculation (EE)

Device’s energy efficiency average (EEb) determines maximum speed and it is defined as the
relationship between air flow device and power consumed by the device, both determined by the
following equation:
q  m 3 
EEb  
 s.W 
P

being:

q air flow for the máximum speed, in cubic meter per second (m3/s);

Energy efficiency Standardization is necessary to allow comparison among devices with different
diameters in the fan wheels.

Energy efficiency device is obtained with followin formula:
