PERSONAL, POSSESSIVE AND DEMONSTRATIVE PRONOUNS

PERSONAL PRONOUNS

We use pronouns to replace the names of people, animals or things.

I You We

 I am Azmi. You are Anita. We are boys.

 I am nine years old. You are a pretty girl. We have same hobby.

 I am a good boy. You are a good girl. We are good friends.

They He She It

They are girls. That is Mr. John. That is Miss Julie. This is a bird.

They play dolls. He is a doctor. She is a teacher. It has wings.

They are sisters. He works in a clinic. She teaches English. It has a beak.
POSSESSIVE PRONOUNS

To show that something belongs to someone or ‘ownership’.

mine yours ours

This is my kite. That ball is for you. We bought these dolls.


It is mine. It is yours. These are ours.

hers his theirs

En. Ali gives Ani a gift. Amri has a new racquet. They play ball together.
It is hers. It is his. The ball is theirs.
DEMONSTRATIVE PRONOUNS

This That

 We use it for singular nouns.  We use it for singular nouns.


 Refer to something that is close  Refer to something that is far
or near to the speaker. to the speaker.

This is my book.

That is my bag.

These Those

 We use it for plural nouns.  We use it for plural nouns.
