A SURVEY REPORT ON FAMILY’S FAVORITE

PASTIME ACTIVITIES OR HOBBIES DURING


ENHANCED COMMUNITY QUARANTINE

Executive Summary
As the pandemic arises here in the Philippines, many people stayed at home to

secure their safety. Staying at home sometimes makes us feel bored which lead us to

do some pastime activities.

This survey aims to determine the family’s favorite pastime activities and hobbies

during the Enhanced Community Quarantine, and what the psychological effects of

pastime activities or hobbies are. On the 17 th day of February, a 1-5 survey

questionnaire was made composed of different questions centers the favorite pastime

activities of the respondents and its effect. This was distributed to selected 30 different

people live inside our Barangay. This was distributed on February 17 but was collected

on February 18, morning.

From the first answers of respondents, 20 respondents say that they experience

boredom during the quarantine while the remaining 10 respondents says that they don’t

experience boredom. When they are asked about their hobbies to reduce their

boredom, 30% says that they are playing games, 27% says bonding with their family,

20% says that planting crops while the remaining 20% are others like watching movies,

listening to music and doing household chores. They are also asked if they spend time

with their family during their free time, 18 out of 30 say yes and 12 out of 30 say no.

During quarantine, 25% of respondents say that their favorite pastime activity is

watching movie, 10% says playing music, 20% says board games, another 10% of the

respondents say that yoga is their favorite pastime activity, 15% says card games and

the other 25% are others like playing ML, and reading wattpad. On the last question, all

respondents says that doing pastime activities and hobbies relieve their stress.
Upon seeing the results it is clearly says that many of them feel boredom during

Enhanced Community Quarantine. Many of them release boredom by playing games,

others bond with their family, plant crops, watch movies, play music and do household

chores. Only few spend their free time with their family and many does. Also, there most

favorite pastime activity is watching movies, playing ML and reading wattpad rather than

playing board games, card games, playing music and yoga. All of them agreed that

pastime activities relieve stress.In this time of pandemic, many people suffered but we

don’t have choice, we have to remain safe by staying at home. Staying at made we do a

lot of things, things that leads us to know our better selves. I’ve seen this to the people I

survey, instead of complaining, they still wear their smiles and continue to fight COVID

19.

I. Introduction

In the last day of January, 2020, the pandemic spreading in our world came in

the Philippines. During this crisis, everything changed. These changes started to be

permanent and they begin to call it New Normal. The government advises the people to

stay at home for their safety. And because of this, pastime activities became known.

II. Terms and Reference

This survey tackles the following objectives:

 To know the family’s favorite pastime activities and hobbies during the Enhanced

Community Quarantine.

 To know what are the effects of pastime activities or hobbies to their

psychological health.

III. Procedure

A 1-5 survey questionnaire was made and conducted to 30 selected respondents

in Brgy. Banahao.

IV. Findings

From the first answers of respondents, 20 respondents say that they experience

boredom during the quarantine while the remaining 10 says that they don’t. When they

are asked about their hobbies that relieve their boredom, 30% says that playing games,

27% says that bonding with their family, 20% says that planting crops while the

V. Conclusion

Based on the results it is clearly says that almost all of them feel boredom during

Enhanced Community Quarantine. Many of them release boredom by playing games,

while others bond with their family, plant crops, watch movies, play music and do

household chores. Only few spend their free time with their family. Also, there most

favorite pastime activity is watching movies, playing ML and reading wattpad rather than

playing board games, card games, playing music and yoga. All of them agreed that

pastime activities relieve stress.

VI. Recommendation

In this time of crisis where everybody’s life is at risk, we don’t have choice but to

stay at home and remain safe from COVID-19. If we feel boredom, do whatever pastime

games or activities you can do. According to the article, “The Effect of Leisure

Rehabilitation” by Merim, Doron MD; Ben Natan, Merav PhD, RN; Seleznev, Irina MD,

“participation in leisure activities are having purpose in life, and spirituality that may act

to shape individuals' attitudes toward life and life events”. In short, pastime activities

don’t only make your day complete but also can find your purpose in life. This crisis

doesn’t totally bring us destruction, but also bring unity on us.
