B. Developmental Activities
1. Activity
- Are you familiar with the term “measures of variability”?
- Let’s learn more about it as we do our activity entitled “connectiword”
- The class will be divided into four (4) groups, each group will select a
group leader, secretary, and a presenter.
- The activity is only for 10 minutes (5 min. for group analyzation and 5
min. for presentation.) Once the time is done, they need to post their
work in the board finished or unfinished.
- In this activity, each group will arrange One(1) scrambled word by
sequencing the clues indicated below the letters.

2. Analysis
1. What did we do in our activity?
What is the word for number 1? Who can read it again the description
on each letter?
In order to find the spread of the scores of Rysel, what did she discover?
The discovery of Rysel is the definition of RANGE which will _______?
What will be the range of the scores? Which subject has less than
spread?
2. What is the answer for the scrambled letters in number 2?
What did Maricel find first?
What is the mean?
In subtracting the mean, why is it important to get its absolute value?
Create a table for better understanding.
What is the mean deviation of Marysel’s scores?
3. What is the word in number 3?
In the letter V, what is the description?
What is the first step of Veronica in finding the spread of her scores?
After she finds the difference of the mean and the individual score, what
did she do with the result?
If we can get the variance, we can create a table.
What is the summation of the squared over the number terms?
4. What is the answer in number 4?
What have you observed in the description?
So, the Standard deviation is?
3. Abstraction
What is the purpose of measuring of variability?
What are the different types of measures of variability of ungrouped data?
4. Application
The class will be divided into two groups. Each group will select a group
leader. The leader will be the one who is responsible for dividing the task
among members of the group. The activity will only cover 15 minutes of
time. Each group will be given a marker and manila paper to answer the
following.
1. Alyssa has a score of 12, 17, 13, 18, 15 in Mathematics Quizzes. Using
the formula R=H-L, find the range.
