1.

When finished washing, which part of your hands is considered more clean, your
fingertips or your wrists?
The fingertips are considered cleaner after handwashing. This is because more time is
spent scrabbing palm to palm in a circular pattern with direct water contact. The back
of the fingers, thumb, and tips of the fingers are also given close attention when
handwashing, rendering the parts contamination-free, unlike the hand wrist.

2. What psychosocial aspects of a bath are important? What step of the nursing
process can be accomplished during a bath? (Hint: ADPIE)
During a bed bath, the nursing process can be accomplished through the five phases
as follows. First, an assessment identifies the patient’s underlying issue, including the
emotional and psychological state. Second, diagnosis is made to determine the
patient’s medical condition and needs. Third, planning is done to identify the course
of action once the patient agrees with the diagnosis (Nicholson & Johnson, 2020).
Fourth, implementation of the treatment plan is put into action. Fifth, evaluation is
lastly done to assess whether there is anything to be corrected or the treatment plan
worked.
3. What changes need to be made in normal procedure for a bed of a client on
contact precautions?
If the patient is unconscious or helpless, two nursing personnel should work together,
one being the instructor to the patient as the other performs the procedure. If the
assistant is not available, the bedside of the bed to the nurse should be raised to
prevent the patient from rolling out of bed.
4. What safety issues do you notice in this video?
The noticeable safety issue is that the nursing personnel did not confirm the wheels
are locked to prevent any movement that can be hazardous. Also, the nursing
personnel should have gloves worn to prevent any contamination in case of contact
with fluids.

5. 8 ounce of ice chip is equivalent to how many mL?

6. What is the difference between fracture and normal bedpan?

The fracture bedpan is smaller than the normal bedpan, and it consists of one flat end.
It is designed for patients recovering from a replacement of the hip or who had a hip
fracture. A fracture bedpan allows the ailing person to stay in a lying position. It holds
less urine which can be spilled easily, and it is more comfortable.
A regular bedpan is designed to facilitate natural elimination position and therefore
requires repositioning the bed and patient. It holds more urine and is designed to
prevent spills due to the higher walls; thus, it can be uncomfortable (Mineli et., 2021).

7. How do you ensure that the patient is not wrongfully fitted with the wrong
denture after?
Properly fitted dentures should facilitate one to live a normal life and are comfortable.
Wrongfully fitted dentures can be identified if the following signs and symptoms
manifest; movement of dentures, gums pain accompanied by bleeding, challenge in
eating and swallowing discomfort, and speaking difficulties.
