● The objective of the game is to put the ball inside of the goal located at the ends

can use both hands to hold the ball during the game.

HISTORY
Forerunners
● 2000 BC (Han Dynasty, China) – “Tsu chu” – involved kicking a stuffed ball
made of animal skin and was usually played during festivals and holiday
celebrations.
● 500 – 600 years later (Japan) – “Kemari” – passing the ball to each other, in
relative small space, trying not to touch the ground.

was later shorted to “assoc” and eventually to “soccer”.
● 1870 (Germany) Association rules were first initiated which includes restricting
the number of players on the field to eleven per team.
● 1904 (Paris) delegates from France. Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Sweden,
Switzerland and the Netherlands formed the Federation Internationale de

declared the winner.
