the formula -total recordable injury x 200000 divided by total man hours worked
Severity Rate: - The severity rate is the calculation that gives a company an average of number

Handling of compressed gas cylinder:- Make sure the cylinder is fitted with correct type of
regulator, Never use grease or oil to lubricate cylinder regulator or cylinder valve, Correct type
of fire extinguisher must be available when the cylinder is in use.
Storage of compresses gas cylinder:- Gas cylinder must be kept in trolley and secured at all
the time, Protective caps shall be secure when not in use, Compressed gas cylinder always
stored in upright position, Oxygen cylinder must be stored separately from the flammable gas
cylinder and empty cylinder must be stored separately from the filled cylinder.

Heat stress is a most serious disorder, it occur when the body temperature regulation fails and
the body temperature rises to a critical level.
Symptoms of Heat Stress:- a- Dizziness and light headache, b- Lack of sweating despite of
heat, c- Red, hot and dry skin, d- Muscle weakness and cramp, e- Nausea and vomiting.
Control measure:- Reduce the time of work under direct sunlight, Drink plenty of cool
water, Provide cool shaded work area, Provide air-conditioned rest area, Increase the
frequency and length of rest break, schedule job to the cooler time of the day, Caution worker
to the direct sunlight, Trained First Aid provider shall be available to give treatment in the
event of heat related illness.
