Writing
Create short imaginative, informative and persuasive texts using growing knowledge of text structures and
language features for familiar and some less familiar audiences, selecting print and multimodal elements
appropriate to the audience and purpose
Goals
 By the end of Term 3, Leon will be able to write a persuasive text with the correct features 80% of the
time.
Strategy
• Classroom teacher will model persuasive texts using the Seven Steps for successful writers and a
hamburger template
• Classroom teacher will provide Leon with hamburger templates to write in a hamburger writing checklist
• Classroom teacher will provide Leon with a model of a ‘good text’ for him to refer to (this will be in his
writing book)
• SNEA will work Leon independently to revise the parts of a persuasive text by saying, reading and writing
them

Self-Awareness and Management
Extend their vocabulary through which to recognise and describe emotions and when, how and with whom it
is appropriate to share emotions
Goals
 By the end of Term 3, Leon will be able to identify the Zone he is in and appropriate tools to move to the
green zone and return (within 5 minutes) 80% of the time
 By the end of Term 3, Leon will be able to follow the teachers’ instructions to complete activities 80% of
the time.
Strategy
Strategy C
• Class room teacher will teach Zones of Regulations lessons.
• SNEA will work with Leon and model, discuss and help him to select strategies to move into the green zone
• Use a timer to return to the mat (within five minutes)
Strategy D
• Leon will be given a choice of two things. One the classroom activity and one a pre-chosen activity. If he
chooses the class activity he will be given five minutes to put his name, date and decide on his starting point.
He will also be given a token. The class teacher will then help explain and support. If Leon, chooses not to
complete the activity, he will complete it at another teacher designated time.
• Classroom teacher will speak to Leon each day to remind him of the process and what will be happening.
• If Leon chooses not to follow either choice, he can be given time to cool down. Counted if needed and
admin called.
Social Awareness and Management
Use basic skills required for participation in group tasks and respond to simple questions about their
contribution to group tasks
Goals
 By the end of Term 3, Leon will be able to ask or answer questions 80% of the time.
 By the end of Term 3, Leon will be able to line up appropriately in the pre-selected position with the class
80% of the time.
 By the beginning of Term 2, Leon will be able to ask for help when he is stuck from someone in his group.
 By the end of Term 3, Leon will be able to work independently at his desk for 70% of the time without
distracting himself or those around him.
Strategy
Strategy A
• Class teacher will ask questions and direct the simple ones to Leon. He will be rewarded with a token.
• Class teacher and Leon will decide on his position in the class line. This will be decided weekly on a
Monday and be set for the week.
• SNEA will work with Leon and model asking and answering questions.
Strategy B
• Class teacher and Leon will decide on his position in the class line.
• SNEA will discuss, model and write a lining up rules list.
• Leon to work on one rule each week and be rewarded with a token each time he follows the rule.
