FUTURE TENSES (page 42)

1. FUTURE SIMPLE – WILL/WON’T + verb (+,-)

WILL + subject + verb (?)

- decisions, promises, offers, threats, warnings (odluke, obećanja, ponude, pretnje)


e.g. At 10 p.m., I’ll study English. I won’t study chemistry. Will you study biology?

- tomorrow, soon, next week/month… in two weeks/months

2. FUTURE CONTINUOUS – WILL/WON’T BE + verb + -ing (+,-)

WILL + subject + BE + verb + -ing (?)

- to talk about something we expect will happen (što očekujemo da će se dogoditi)


- action in progress in the future (radnja koja će trajati u budućnosti)
At 10 p.m., I’ll be studying English.
I won’t be studying chemistry.
Will you be studying biology?

3. FUTURE PERFECT SIMPLE – WILL/WON’T HAVE + past participle (-,+)


WILL + subject + HAVE + past participle (?)

- completed action in the future (završena buduća radnja)


By 10 p.m., I’ll have learnt English.
By 10 p.m., I won’t have learnt chemistry.
Will you have learnt biology by 10 p.m.?

- before, by, until; by then, by the time

4. FUTURE PERFECT CONTINUOUS – WILL/WON’T HAVE BEEN + verb + -ing (+,-)


WILL + subject +HAVE BEEN + verb + -ing (?)

- to say how long an action will have been in progress in the future (koliko dugo će trajati radnja)
By 10 p.m., I will have been studying English for 2 hours.
By 10 p.m., I won’t have been studying chemistry at all.
Will you have been studying biology for 2 hours?

- by, for
