The participants are told that the research is to measure reaction time even though it was not,
so that there would be no Hawthorne Effect (demand characteristics) which will happen if the
participants knew the real aim of the experiment.

The study is actually about hidden racial biases, and whether or not the color of your skin makes
you more likely to be a victim of violence.

A gun and a cell phone were the two items presented in the live targets hands. If the humans
shot the correct person they would get a point if they shot the wrong person they would lose a
point.

By shooting all the people with guns and no innocents with phones.

The African-American man with the cell phone was shot more than the white man with the cell
phone.

6. What is the condition [scenario] of interest?

The condition of interest is where the two men of different color both with phones come up.
The researchers record who is shot more.

7. Did you recognize any controls that were used?

The researchers made the African-American man and the white man switch places however the
results still came the same.

8. What are your thoughts/opinions on the results of the research?

It was surprisingly effective in revealing the hidden biases of people.
