MODULE 1
What is community?
➢ A community is a societal unit with similarities such as norms, religion, values, duty, or
personality. Communities may share a feeling of place positioned in a given geographic
area or in the proper space through communication platforms.
What is development?
➢ Is an action that creates growth, improvement, positive change or the addition of tangible,
profitable, environment-friendly, sociable, and demographic components.
What is sustainable for the community?
➢ A sustainable community can remain over generations, enjoying a healthful environment,
thriving economy and lively community life.

PRACTICE #4
Instruction: Using the Sustainable Goals of United Nation. Give some actions or programs that
will you know and you can share to our community for the development.
1. NO POVERTY - Many citizens were unable to complete their studies due to a lack of
financial resources, which is one of the reasons that finding work is so difficult for them.
Undergraduates must be given a career that depends on expertise rather than educational
background in order for them to get a job.

2. ZERO HUNGER - It should be supported by government, non- government, private


sector and organization. Donating foods to restricted area and to the place that lack of
foods. It can be donating basic needs and giving relief goods.

3. GOOD HEALTH AND WELL BEING - Good Health and Well Being - As we all
know, many people are facing health issues. So promoting healthy lifestyle and
increasing support to mental health would be a great help to everyone and could decrease
the mortality rate in our country.

4. QUALITY EDUCATION - it is better that the teachers and professors are good at
teaching, so the students well improve their skills and knowledge.

5. GENDER EQUALITY - all genders should have equal rights and equal responsibilities
in our nation. They have should equal rights at work, equal rights with peoples and
should equal treatment. Stop discriminating and treat people equally.

6. CLEAN WATER AND SANITATION - We can improve water quality if they promote
stop dumping and minimizing the release of chemicals in the water. And educate people
about how it would affect us if they won't start caring about it.

7. AFFORDABLE AND CLEAN ENERGY - it can apply the creation of windmills.


Windmills can help to produce energy. Then the energy that it produces is renewable
sources.

8. DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH - the job should be focused on skills
instead of educational background must be offered to the undergraduates, so they could
have some job and the job company should gender equality.
9. INDUSTRY, INNOVATION, AND INFRASTRUCTURE - Infrastructure that they can
do to their community is investing in solar panels for sustainable energy that is not
harmful to the environment.

10. REDUCE INEQUALITIES - Reducing inequalities is necessary to do in a community,


not only in the Amlac community but all over the country to reduce inequalities
government needs to increase the minimum wages of every individual, invest in
education.

11. SUSTAINABLE CITIES AND COMMUNITIES - Continue to expand the Community


Farm to produce their food, and have clean water for everyone in the community, they
can also have a farm that dedicated to the animals like rabbit and chicken as we all know
rabbit can be alternative meat, these are the example that they can do to have a
sustainable community it can help them to not buy or import goods in different region or
country because they can sustain their needs inside their community.

12. RESPONSIBLE, CONSUMABLE, AND PRODUCTION - If the community farm


plan to build infrastructure, it's better to promote using plants and environmental energy
to sustain the cleanliness of the surrounding area.

13. CLIMATE ACTION - In the Amlac community farm, it is good to add more trees in the
farm area to have fresh and clean air, and build a drainage system to prevent flooding.

14. LIFE BELOW WATER - Amlac community farm doesn’t have a river or lake, but they
can build a program to help areas in Quezon City to help to clean rivers near them, we
need to restore our lakes, rivers, or even seas. Through this Amlac community, farms can
raise awareness of how important to have clean water.

15. LIFE ON LAND - We humans live on land other animals like dogs and cats etc. In
Amlac community farm there’s a lot of stray dogs and cats, they can build charity or
program that help those stray dogs and cats to have shelters and foods and program that
people can adopt those animals.
16. PLACE, JUSTICE, AND STRONG INSTITUTIONS - Encourage peaceful and
comprehensive communities for sustainable growth, provide access to justice for all and
construct effective, responsible, and including institutions at all levels.

17. PARTNERSHIP FOR THE GOALS - In a community it needs to have a partnership to


have a great development not only in the farm as well in the community, to support the
accomplishment of the Sustainable Development Goals in the community.

● This time I knew the objectives and identify the needs of communities.
● And how to give the develop programs for the sustainabillity of the communities.

● Community development is a process in which organizations assist community members
in identifying and taking collective action on topics that are relevant to them. Economic
growth strengthens and connects communities by empowering community members.
● The main goal of community growth is to raise public awareness about different issues
that affect a community. It assists them in providing awareness and understanding of the
major factors that influence their social lives.

the safety of eco system.

to organize the areas or to be clean in a place when disposing properly to avoid messy
areas and the planting of trees that can help us to provide fresh air, clean seas so that we
can avoid damaging the corals in the sea and avoid using plastics because its life spam
takes too long before it dries up and especially our wild life, let's take care of it they are,
because most of our country’s animals are close to extinction

● At first, I don’t know how we will start. But when I already read the instructions, I
understand.
● I only know few names of community but I don’t know if it is in interest, place, etc.
● For example Red Cross, it is an organization that helps people’s health. As a result,
community is a social unit with commonality such as norms, religion, values, customs, or
identity.

● Taking care to our environment is what the world deserves as it provide us the things that
make us alive. We consume different kinds of energy form the environment but admit it
or not, many of us are taking advantage of it. In a simple throwing the trash in a garage
bin can held to reduce the waste that are mess specially in public places. We should stop
using plastic straw as it can harm turtles. Instead, use a reusable or paper straw. Thanks to
all communities that been taking care of environment and wildlife.

● There are seven different classification of communities; formal. Informal, Urban, Rural,

● There are also five types of communities; the interest, action, place of practice, and
circumstances where the community is depends on.

who have common religious, abilities and common interest. Development is define as a
growth process, new understanding and new activity or new situation. Community

the community development.

● My knowledge about community development before the study is not minimal I know
that community needs development to be sustainable.
● I’m well aware that we need to focus on some development in the community, for
example, we need more trees because some communities this day are polluted.

● During class, I’ve learned that we need to know what the communities need the most
because we cannot just do development without learning what communities’ specific

● Having a sustainable community should be necessary for us, government should promote
all communities to create and plan their own livelihood programs and urban gardening.
There’s a lot of types of community that we need to look at, classify their needs, and
create a plan to help them develop and be a sustainable community. Through the study of
the community and what it needs we also help our nature to restore by planting trees and
preventing floods, let’s have a community that not only human it can help but as well as
the environment.
