BRIEF INTRODUCTION
AGENCIES AND ORGANIZATIONS FOR CONSUMER
PROTECTION

1. DOH (Department of Health)


- It is responsible for ensuring access to basic public health.
-This is the government's over-all technical authority on
health.

2. DTI (Department of Trade and Industry)


It is the executive department of the Philippine
Government tasked as the main economic catalyst that
enables businesses become innovative, competitive, job
generating, and inclusive; and empowers consumers.
It monitors consumer products and service
warranties, consumer product quality and safety, deceptive,
unfair and unconscionable sales, acts and practices, price
tag, weights and measures, labeling and packaging,
advertising and sales promotion, liability for products and
services, and service and repair shops.
3.FDA (Food and Drug Administration)
Formerly, it was called the Bureau of Food
and Drugs (BFAD). It was created under the
Department of Health to license, monitor, and regulate
the flow of food, drugs, cosmetics, medical devices,
and household hazardous waste in the Philippines.
Its main goal is to ensure the health and safety of food
and drugs made available to the public.
4. DA (Department of Agriculture)
It is the executive department of the Philippine
government responsible for the promotion of agricultural and
fisheries development and growth.

5.DepEd (Department of Education)
It is the executive department of the Philippine
government responsible for ensuring access to promoting
equity among learners, and improving the quality of basic
education.
It is the main agency tasked to manage and govern the

6.SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission)
It is the agency of the Government of the
Philippines responsible for regulating the security industry
in the Philippines. In addition to its regulatory functions,
the SEC also maintains the country's company register.

7. BSP (Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas)


It is the central bank of the Philippines.
It emphasizes financial consumer protection in its revised
regulation.
