    STANDARD 11 – Professional Conduct and Leadership: The teacher understands

    education as a profession, maintains standards of professional conduct, and provides

    leadership to improve learning and well-being.

    1. Write a paragraph explaining your knowledge and understanding of the standard—put the

    standard into your own words.

    Teaching may seem like an easy job and relaxed, however it is still a profession and teachers

    need to be professional. The standard insinuates that teachers need to maintain a professional

    manner in all aspects of the classroom. For students to learn and be successful in the

    classroom, the teacher needs to act and appear professional to show they are in charge and the

    leader.

    2. Explain how the artifact you chose demonstrates your understanding and application of the

    standard.

    I chose the application essay I wrote for the college of education. I feel that it shows how

    seriously I take education and my future career as a teacher. It gives me a starting place as to

    the teacher I want to be and the things I want to instill in my students. I think to be an effective

    leader you need to have a plan and goals, and that is what the essay shows. I have dreams

    and ideas of what my teaching and classroom learning will look like which are reflected through

    my professional conduct in this essay.


    3. A If the artifact has been used in your practice, reflect on how your teaching will change in

    the future to further meet the standard.

    B. If the artifact has not been used in your practice, i.e., a class assignment, reflect upon how

    your teaching will be impacted by the assignment.

    The artifact will enhance my teaching because it will give me goals or bench marks to reach. It

    is good to have an idea of what you want to achieve and how you will achieve that, this artifact

    gives me both in a way that I can add on and change it as the years go on. My professionalism

    and leadership qualities will be enhanced and highlighted by this artifact because it is something

    I can refer to and make changes from.

    4. Conclude with a paragraph discussing how you are more prepared to Teach and Learn in a

    Diverse Society as a result of satisfactorily meeting the standard.

    Being professional, showing leadership, and knowing how you will conduct yourself in the

    classroom will help teach in a diverse society. To show students that I care and am there to

    help, I need to be knowledgeable about the topics I teach and the backgrounds they come from.

    Knowing how I want to teach and what I want to teach will allow me to dig deeper into my

    students lives and my own to change my teaching styles and the approaches that I take.
