easy to manage the class flow is somewhat organized and smooth. Students are
so participative and active for the applying classroom routines and procedures.
2. How did your students respond to your classroom routines and procedures?
Students in class demonstrated positive behavior because they were
attentive, active, and involved in the routines and procedures. Students show
willingness in the new routines they experienced.
3. What was the feedback of your Resource Teacher on your classroom routines
and procedures?
5. What was the feedback of your Resource Teacher on your classroom routines
and Procedures?
The feedback from my Resource Teacher on the classroom routines is to
improve and maintain more of the routines. Aside from that, she was pleased that
I had finished the task.
ANALYZE
The learners lack of focus was one of the factors that prompted me. I want
to easily be caught their attention so that they could be able to catch and
understand all the intended lessons that I am going to discuss to them on the
next discussion.
Yes, the teaching and learning process has improved. As I already said in
number 2 the learners become more participative and active during the
discussion unlike before.
REFLECT
What insights have you gained while doing this learning episode?
In this episode we realized how much important establishing our own Classroom
Routines and Procedures on daily classroom life. Aside from saving classroom time and
teacher’s effort it also makes easier for the students to learn and to achieve more. It
also enables the whole day classroom activities runs smoothly because it helps in
maintaining everything inside and outside the classroom organized.
OBSERVE
1. The problem/challenges I encountered in establishing my classroom routines
First, Failure to Announce the Do's and Don'ts, as a teacher we must inform the
students our Rules and Regulations inside the classroom. It is very important that they
are aware of it, and for them to be able to know their Limitations and Boundaries
Between you. Second, Not Creating an Action plan, as a teacher we must Create a plan
in every action we did because it will help us to become organized and it will give us a
framework for thinking about how we complete a project efficiently.
REFLECT
2. I hope to achieve to address these problems and challenges by
PLAN
3. Some strategies/ways which I can employ to improve my classroom
routines are
As their teacher I’m there model so to ensure they know how to follow and
do the routines and procedure we have, I need to model it by showing to
class like example arriving to class on or before time so that they will learn
time management.
Praising students can motivate to be active in the class because they will
feel the effort in the class is worth it.
Posting an image of the rules, routines and procedures can help students
to remember it.

NOTIC
1. Which web conferencing app did the teacher use for synchronous classes? Describe
its features and how you or the teacher used its features
Web Conferencing App Feature Was it utilized? If yes, describe how it
(Google Meet) was utilized in class
Virtual background Everyone has the freedom to choose their
own background. It may be the actual
background of the participants or the
background available on the conferencing
app.
Microphone icon on/off Before the discussion starts, the teacher
instructed the students to turn off their
microphone first to avoid background
noises and turned on only during the time
of recitation and open discussion.
Camera icon on/off The teacher requires the students to turn
on their cameras to check if they are still
present during the whole discussion.
Screen Share Only the teacher or the presenter is
required to share their screen.
Reaction Buttons There is no reaction button on G-meet but
the students can send different emojis
using the chat box as an alternative.
Spotlight There is no spotlight button on G-meet,
instead, it has “Pin” button that offers the
same function as the spotlight to give
focus to person who is speaking.
Polling (Not used)
Recording (Not used)
2. How was the content taught or delivered? How were the learning activities
facilitated. What strategies did the teacher, or you used to keep the students
engaged? How the student responds to the teacher? To the activities?
ANALYZE
1. What are the best features of a web- conferencing app that you or the teacher
used? GOW did the features help the teachers and students?
The best features of a web- conferencing app that I used are the Screen Share /
Screen Annotation and Sharing. Screen share, also known as desktop sharing, is the
practice of sharing the contents of your screen with another device or multiple devices.
This can include all the elements on a screen or simply one window, which allows for
complete control over the visibility of your desktop and guarantees privacy. Virtual
Meetings. It Connect virtually from anywhere with Zoom Meetings.
This Web conferencing features can be used to help students and teachers to
support interactive learning or student-centered teaching and learning in a team-
oriented, virtual environment. When a student shares their screen, their role as a learner
can shift to include that of a teacher too. Students can show off what they have learned
to their classmates, facilitate a discussion, and even take questions from their peers.
2. Referring to the community of Inquiry Infographics, how well did the teacher or
you use the web conferencing app to establish:
TEACHING PRESENCE can be defined as a means of designing, facilitating, and
directing cognitive and social processes to achieve personal and educational value
To resolve student problems and questions. Be present in discussion forums.
Provide timely, actionable, and substantive feedback. Provide clear expectations on
how students can reach you both synchronously (office hours) and asynchronously
(email, text, etc.).
In the context of online learning, SOCIAL PRESENCE is described as the ability of
learners to project themselves socially and emotionally as well as their ability to
perceive other learners as 'real people’. “Understand Social Presence for Learning.
Create Social Connections to Build Community. Understand a Variety of Tools and
Media. Harness Reflection and Prior Experience. Provide Early and Continuous
Feedback. Design with Assessment in Mind. Encourage Change in Small Steps.
COGNITIVE PRESENCE is the extent to which learners are able to construct and
confirm meaning through reflection and discourse and is defined as a four-stage
process of practical inquiry. It will use to Provide a variety of assignments that students
can pick and choose from to demonstrate learning.
Provide a variety of different types of content and assignments: video, writing, audio,
reflection, team-based work, readings, games, etc.
3. What problem or challenges did the teacher or you /students encounter during
the synchronous classes? How did it affect the teacher/learners? Problems and
Challenges encountered in Synchronous Class.
This are the problems that we experienced in Synchronous classes: Lack of
Flexibility. Perhaps the single biggest challenge associated with synchronous distance
education is the inherent lack of flexibility it provides.
Reliance on Technology. Not all learners do not have a gadgets like laptop, Android
phone to use in synchronous class. This means that if a member of the learning group
experiences problems with their connection, or if they do not have access to high-speed
internet for a period, they may miss out on important information.
REFLECT
1. How Ready are you in teaching an online synchronous class?
I think that I'm 60% Ready or prepared, because I expect that this online
synchronous class would Be difficult for me. I need more experience, Resources and
advise on how to deal with situations like this. Because I believe that the Learner's
Learn most inside the classroom. So, when the time comes it is very challenging on how
we teach our students effectively.
2. Using a web- conferencing app, how else would you better establish:
Teaching Presence- In terms of teaching Presence, I would make a strong
communication with the students and make a way to get their attentions. I will consider
their differences and respect all of them, to build trust and a better relationship with
them. By these, I believe that I could teach them positively and effectively.
Social Presence-It Is very Important to have a strong Bond connection with your
students because it is where you start to get their attention. At the same time the
students would feel comfortable with you. Then it is the time that they will Realize that
they need to study hard and learned from you because they will understand what you’re
going through just to teach all of them.
Cognitive presence-It is very Important to observe and evaluate the learning
capabilities of the students, because as a teacher you need to think of ways on how to
improve and enhance their critical thinking. Provide a different type of task like making a
educational video, writing, audio, reflection, team based works, reading and games that
will improve their cognitive ability.
3. What do you still need to learn in order to conduct an online synchronous class using
a web- conferencing app effectively?
I believed that I've have a lot to learn in order to teach this online synchronous
class, according to my research (it is based on google)
There are best practices for synchronous online teaching such as:
Determine an objective, focus on active learning, share any resources or materials used
during the session, be flexible, be the host with the most, prepare students for the
session, prepare yourself for the session.
All of these would help us a lot to be able to teach effectively and to provide quality
learnings to the students and to achieve greatest quality education that the students
wanted to have that they will cherish to become successful soon.
OBSERVE
1. What problematic situation/ challenges / area of improvement did you see while
you participated and assisted using a web-conferencing app for synchronous
learning?
The problematic situation or challenges that I saw while I’m participating and
assisting a synchronous learning using a web-conferencing app like zoom and
google meeting are the following: (1) Poor internet connection. (2) Late feedback
of the teachers in online learning because of the communication barriers like
noise, poor internet connectivity or any disturbances etc. And lastly, (3)
Experiencing technical problems.
List at least three sources that you have read about this problem / challenge.
All the problems mentioned can be anchored to the Learning Theory, where it’s
meant to explain and help us understand how people learn. It involves multiple
disciplines including psychology, sociology, neuroscience, and education. Three
theories under learning theories are related to this which is the behaviorism,
cognitivism, and social constructivism. Through these theories we can easily
assess our students even on synchronous classes. Observations are limited but
it’s a big factor on how teachers can interact and help students during this time.
And lastly, because of the circumstances we experienced in these new learning
modalities we learned on how we are going to respond to uncontrollable
stimulus, and we learned from this kind of hardship experiences.
REFLECT
Problems are constant here in our world. Let’s think it in a positive way.
Through these hardships and uncertainties that we’re facing, it makes us
stronger than what we’re us yesterday. Those problems arise in using web-
conferencing application can have a solution little by little through partnerships or
collaborations with the government and other sectors to eradicate the problems
on poor internet connectivity. Hopefully, I want to achieve that this time can be
our lucky year to be back on what we are supposed to practice in the sectors of
education before, like conducting face-to-face classes so that there’s no reasons
to experience late feedback to teachers and students. And the academic
activities and programs can be experience again by the students- how studying
is fun and gaining life lessons. Let’s make our everyday life significant, we must
learn and grow.
PLAN
2. If you will conduct action research, what will be the title? (Base this on
your answers in nos. 1-3):
ACT
The strategies or solutions that I can employ to improve or solve the problem
are the following:
1. Write a letter expressing the difficulties and suggestions addressed to the
University President about the issue and circumstances that teachers and
students experienced in using the web-conferencing app as a platform for
learning to take actions to resolve it.
2. Have a partnership or collaborations to different companies, agencies and
non-government organizations that is willing to contribute and help.
3. Be healthy, take care and disciplined yourself for us to be back on our
normal situation and face-to-face classes can be 100% implemented to
boost our academic performances.
2. During a two-hour online synchronous class, the science teacher taught about
centripetal and centrifugal forces. She did not introduce the learning goals for the
session. She shared on screen the first powerpoint she found on the internet and
lectured about the topic to the students without engaging them to participate.
They were passive the whole time. Some students turned off their cameras. She
ended the class with a quiz on the topic. The teacher did not effectively
demonstrate which essential element?
3. The topic of the online synchronous session for the day was how the Philippines
will attain her immunity from COVID-19 the fastest way. After introducing the
topic, the teacher explained to the students one learning outcome which for them
to analyze the current situation factors that may impede and hasten the
Philippines goal of attaining her immunity. Another learning outcome was for the
students to articulate suggestions on how the Philippines will succeed on this
goal. The teacher provided readings ahead of time and placed the links on the
chat box. She allotted time for the students to go to the small group meeting
rooms she arranged on the web conferencing app for discussion. Later, students
went back to the big group, and students actively shared their outputs. The
teacher fostered which essential element?
