TITLE : THE LATEST DEVELOPMENT IN NETWORK AND COMMUNICATIONS

0|Page
1.0 Introduction

The latest development in networks and communication means the improvement in networks and
communication services and products which really useful for IT user. A computer network is a system of
interconnected computer and peripheral devices. Communication is about the transfer of information from a
sender, across a distance, to a receiver. Communication is the activity of conveying information.
Communication requires a sender, a message and an intended recipient.

2.0 Mobile Computing.

2.1 Definition.

Using a computing device while in transit. Mobile computing implies wireless transmission, but wireless
transmission does not necessarily imply mobile computing. Fixed wireless applications use satellites, radio
systems and lasers to transmit between permanent objects such as buildings and towers.

3.0 Internet Technology and Services.

3.1 Voice Over Internet Protocol ( VoIP)

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is a general term for a family of transmission technologies for delivery
of voice communications over IP networks such as the Internet or other packet-switched networks. Other terms
frequently encountered and synonymous with VoIP are IP telephony, Internet telephony, voice over broadband
(VoBB), broadband telephony, and broadband phone. This important protocol is responsible for providing
logical addressing called IP address to route information between network.

3.2 Blog

A blog (a contraction of the term weblog) is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with
regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are
commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or
add content to a blog. Most blogs are interactive, allowing visitors to leave comments and even message each
other via widgets on the blogs and it is this interactivity that distinguishes them from other static websites.

4.0 Types Of Network

4.1 Personal Area Network (PAN)

A personal area network (PAN) is a computer network used for communication among computer devices
close to one person. The devices mayor may not belong to the person in question. PAN scan be used for
communication among the personal devices themselves or for connecting to a higher level network and the
Internet.Personal area networks may be wired with computer such as USB. A wireless personal area network
(WPAN) can also be made possible with network technologies. The technology for WPANs is in its infancy
and is undergoing rapid development. The objective is to facilitate seamless operation among home or business
devices and systems.

4.2 Virtual Private Network (VPN)

A virtual private network (VPN) is a computer network that is constructed by using public networks or wires
such as Internet to provide remote offices or individual users to get secure access to their organization's
network. This network uses encryption and other security mechanisms to ensure that only authorised users be
able to participate in the communications. It aims to avoid an expensive system of privately owned. Companies
and organizations will use a VPN to communicate confidentially over a public network; the VPN can be used to

send voice, video or data. It encapsulates data transfers using a secure cryptographic method between two or
more networked devices which are not on the same private network so as to keep the transferred data private
from other devices on one or more intervening local or wide area networks. There are many different
classifications, implementations, and uses for VPNs.

4.3 Wireless LAN (WLAN)

A wireless LAN (WLAN) is a wireless local area network that links two or more computers or devices using
spread-spectrum or OFDM modulation technology based to enable communicationbetween devices in a limited
area. This gives users the mobility to move around within a broadcoverage area and still be connected to the
network. This standard defines communication between a wireless computer or client and an access point, or
between two wireless computer or clients.

4.4 WIMAX

Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) is a communications technology that uses
radio spectrum to transmit tens of megabits per second in bandwidth between digital devices such as laptop
computers. Similar to WiFi, WiMAX brings with it the ability to transmit over far greater distances and to
handle much more data. The bandwidth and range of WiMAX make it suitable for the following potential
applications as providing portable mobile broadband connectivity across cities and countries through a variety
of devices.

5.0 Conclusion

The latest development in networks and communication brings more useful to IT user which can makes lifes
way easier in networking and communicate. Computer communication, it seems, will become a much more
useful networking tool when large numbers of people with similar interests acquire access to the technology.
Though it can expedite the formation of new interpersonal networks by overcoming the space and time barriers
faced by traditional networking techniques, it still requires a great deal of concentrated effort and resources to
get the people to use it. This problem should become increasingly minimized over the coming years as the
technological innovations become more diffused throughout society.
