A Read the story below and answer the questions that follow.
There was once an elephant who liked to boast to the other animals in the forest. “I am the
strongest animal in this forest,” he said. “None of you is as strong as me.” He also liked to bully the
other animals. He asked them to bring him the juiciest and sweetest fruit in the jungle and if they
didn’t, he threatened them. “If you don’t, I will destroy your homes.”
The other animals were very frightened of the elephant. One day, there was a thunderstorm.
There was bright, scary lightning and loud thunder. The trees swayed and the branches snapped.
All the animals were frightened and ran to find shelter. The smaller ones scrambled into burrows
in the ground. The bigger ones hid in caves.
The elephant did not move. He said, “I am stronger than the wind. I am not afraid.” Suddenly,
there was a flash of bright light followed by a loud crack. Lightning had struck a large tree and it
fell onto the elephant. He was caught by surprise and sank to his knees. He could not get up and
trumpeted loudly in pain.
The other animals heard the elephant but they were too scared to come out of their shelters.
After the storm, one by one, the animals came out. They found the elephant pinned under the tree.
They worked together to push the tree trunk away and helped the elephant to get up.
The elephant was very grateful and thanked them. He said, “I thought I was stronger than all
