A. INTRODUCTION
Teaching writing is one way to improve students ability to create written

work. Teaching writing’s necessary to teach writing process and special

strategies to enhence students writing competence.

The definitions of writing are variously stated by some experts.

According to Rivers (1981: 294), writing is conveying information or

expression of original ideas in a consecutive way in the new language. Brown,

(2001: 336) also states that writing is a thinking process. Furthermore, he states

that writing can be planned and given with an unlimited number of revisions

before its release.

Elbow (1973) in Brown (2001: 336) also states that writing is a two-step

process. The first process is figuring out the meaning and the second process is

putting the meaning into language. Writing represents what students think. It is

because the writing process reflects things, which stay in the mind. Students

who are reluctant to write things down often suffer for this activity. The

students find difficulties when they start looking for some reasons to write and

producing written sentences.

Another definition of writing skill is also defined by Urquhart and

Mclver and also Harmer. Urquhart and Mclver (2005: 5-6) state that writing is

a recursive process, which means students revise throughout the process,

frequently moving back and forth among the stages.


Harmer (2004) states that writing encourages students to focus on

accurate language use. It is because students consider the language use when

the students engage in their writing process. This activity would provoke

language development because the students resolve problems what writing puts

in students minds.

Based on explanations above, it can be concluded that writing is

conveying information in a consecutive way in the new language. Writing can

be planned and figuring out the meaning and then process is putting the

meaning into language.

Writing is the complex skill that students actually need through collage

because everything is based during academic years. The lecturer has helped

each and every student improve themselves, acquire new skills and become

better.

The role of lecurer to improve students writing skill is very necessary in

academic activies especially in teaching writing. A lot of practice equals better

performance becaause every knowledge and skill gets better with constant,

repetitive practice.

The brief writing session and home individual assignment and many

exam wich require essay and writing skills would assured that writing is

practiced. This practice would help they to find much easier to pull off the

better words, ideas, and content.


The writing activities are also inseparable from the reading activities so

lecturer instruct their students to expand the students insight and make their

writing activities more easier.

According to Harmer (2001: 25), there are two approaches in teaching

writing. They are focusing on the product of writing process and focusing on

the writing process itself. He states that focusing on the writing process leads

those who advocate a process approach in writing. However, lecturer has to pay

attention to the various stages of any piece of writing process.

Based on the explanation above, the lecturer has paid a special attantion

in teaching writing. The lecturer has given a regulary assign brief writing

exercise in the classes. The lecturer has given a provided guidance through the

writing process, after the students have made the assignment, discuss the eror

and mistakes.

The students try to improve their writing skills, a feedback plays a huge

role during the process. The lecturer besides teaching is to offer the students

quality feedback. The feedback should contain specific corrections, it makes the

students know whre they have specifically gone wrong during their written.

The purpose of IWCP 1 is to provide the understanding and knowledge

of information contained teaching writing. Besides speaking, writing is also an

element of communication, face-to-face communication not always possible. In

this IWCP1 learning activity the students had to understand language structure,
vocabulary and writing paragraphs because the writing skill takes a lot of

practice. From some of the benefits above, the author concludes that the

benefits of reading can obtain information not only from oral but also

information and communication in the form of writing in lesson IWCP 1, and

writing in lesson IWCP 1 has a role in expanding one's knowledge and as a

place to express all one's ideas and imagination.

Lecturer has explained the purpose of IWCP 1 to students. The students

write not because they are be commanded to write rather they write voluntarily.

In organizing ideas and developing their writing skill, the students had to learn

how to make a good sentence and paragraphs, masterin various types of

grammar and writing procedures.

B. The Objectives Of IWCP 1

Based of explanation above, the objectives of IWCP 1 are to improve


students skill in writing and to present the students with knowledge and
understanding of the various types information contained in the writing they
read and write.

Teaching writing is one way to improve students ability to create written

strategies to enhance students writing competence. IWCP 1 is to provide the
understanding and knowledge of information contained teaching writing.
Besides speaking, writing is also an element of communication, face-to-face
communication not always possible. In this IWCP 1 learning activity the
students had to understand language structure, vocabulary and writing
paragraphs because the writing skill takes a lot of practice
C. The Significance Of IWCP 1

The course of IWCP 1 is expected to be useful for increasing the


students writing and be able to identify the characteristics of writing so that
students can provide maximum results. Students are also expected to be able to
distinguish the types of writing. The overall objective is to develop students’
written expression of thought and provide learners opportunities to explore
ideas and to build connections between content areas.

D. Steps And Techniques Of Activity

Steps :

a. Lecture selects the book or other sources


Lecturer selects books or other sources which are related to the teaching
materials.
b. Lecturer presents new materials to the class
Lecturer delivers some theories in writing.
c. Lecturer asks students to respond what lecturer deliver
In this step, students can ask lecturer if they do not understand or just
make clarification about what lecturer delivers.
d. Lecturer asks students to practice the materials
The lecturer asks students to do the task individually, and then collect it.
e. The lecturer and students discuss the students answers
They discuss the answers to know the correct answers.
f. Lecturer gives students homework to the students and collect it next
meeting.

E. CONCLUSION

From the description above, it can be concluded that teaching writing is


one way to improve students ability to create written work. Writing is
conveying information in a consecutive way in the new language. Writing can
be planned and figuring out the meaning and then process is putting the
meaning into language.

Teaching writing is very important for student. The lecturer had to teach
the processes of writing with more specific strategies to enhance students
writing competence. Lecturer also had to teach the student the approaches to
writing, and thinking processes involved in planning, organizing, and writing
the assignment or essays.

It was started at 02.30 pm. through an online meeting using Google meet.
Lecturer greeted the students for opening the lesson. He then delivered the topic
of lesson to the students and the objective of the lesson. The last step for
opening class was explained the benefit of the lesson to the students earlier to
start.

b. Main Activities

The first meeting the lecturer demonstrated the understanding of goals,


assessments of the course and contract of the lecturer. Lecturer selected the
books or other sources which are related to the teaching material on Google
meet screen. Then the lecturer delivered description of material and explained
the material to students. Students had to attention to the lecturer's explanation
so that students could understand and easily do the assignments that could be
given by the lecturer. When the lecturer explained the description of material,
students could record points that were considered important and points they that
did not understand so that the students could be asked directly.

The lecturer asked students to respond and the lecturer asked students to
practice the material. In this step, students could ask the lecturer if they didn’t
understand or only made clarification about what the lecturer said. So students
could ask what they did not understand from the material or responded to an
explanation from the lecturer. Then the lecturer gave some examples related to
the material that students more understand about the material.
c. Closing

In this section, lecturer summarized the lesson. After that, lecturer gave
time to students to ask question. There were four students who had question.
Then, lecturer answered student questions and gave some conclusions about the
lesson. The lecturer and students did reflection. Lecturer asked students about
their feeling during teaching and learning process.

After doing this step, lecturer again asked students to analyze the next
and tried to understand it well at homes. At 04.30 pm, lecturer closed the

material, students could record points that were considered important and points
that they did not understand so that the students could be asked directly.

The lecturer asked students to respond and the lecturer asked students to
practice the material. In this step, students could ask the lecturer if they didn’t
understand or only made clarification about what the lecturer said. So students
could ask what they did not understand from the material or responded to an
explanation from the lecturer. Then the lecturer gave some examples related to

exercise of Part of Speech. Then the lecturer delivered an exercise in writing
and explained how to answer it to students. Students had to pay attention to the
lecturer's explanation so that students could understand and easily do the
assignments that could be given by the lecturer. When the lecturer explained an
exercise, students could record points that were considered important and points
that thet did not understand so that the students could be asked directly.

The lecturer asked students to respond and the lecturer asked students to
practice an exercise. In this step, students could ask the lecturer if they didn’t
understand or only made clarification about what the lecturer said. Then the
lecturer gave homework for students as an exercise of the material that had
explained and students had to collect the assignment at the next meeting.

considered important and points that they did not understand so that the
students could be asked directly.

class was explained the benefit of the lesson to the students earlier to start.

b. Main activities

In this meeting, Lecturer provided a middle test and the lecturer gave
students several themes to make paragraphs of essay by choosing one of these
themes. The several themes such as describe about “I love my house”, “some
reasons why I love/don`t love watching Korean movie”, “why do I choose
English department”, “some reasons why I love using mobile phone”, and
“what are your favourite subjects and why”. The descriptive paragraph could be
make at least 100 words.

After that, the lecturer gave themes randomly according to the student’s
seat. On this occasion, student obtained the theme about “What are your
favourite subjects and why”. The lecturer gave 60 minutes to work on the
paragraph of essay and the time could be started after all of students get the
themes. Students could be open the dictionary that they had brought according
to the rules that had been made by the lecturer.

After completing the assignment, the lecturer asked students to collect


it. Lecturer asked students about their feeling during teaching and learning
process. Then, lecturer again asked students to analyze the next and tried to
understand it well at homes. At 04.30 pm, lecturers closed the meeting by

a. Opening

The meeting thirteen was carried out every Wednesday, December, 1,


2021. It was started at 02.30 pm. Lecturer greeted the students for opening the
lesson and checked the students attendances. He then delivered the topic of
lesson to the students and the objective of the lesson. The last step for opening
class was explained the benefit of the lesson to the students earlier to start.

b. Main Activities

Lecturer selected the books or other sources and Lecturer presented new
materials to the class. For the twelve meeting students discussed the material
about Argument paragraph and the lecturer explained about it. Students had to
pay attention to the lecturer's explanation so that students could understand and
easily do the assignments that could be given by the lecturer. When the lecturer
explained the material, students could record points that were considered
important and points that they did not understand so that the students could be
asked directly.

The lecturer asked students to respond and the lecturer asked students to
practice the material. In this step, students could ask the lecturer if they didn’t
understand or only made clarification about what the lecturer said. Then the
lecturer gave some examples related to the material that students more
understand about the material.

Tour Task

On Saturday, December, 4, 2021 Student went to grandma’s house was


located in Sembalun. At the time, student invited three friends and the names is
Didik, Dika and Holis by used their motorcycle. Altough the weather condition
at the time were a little cloudy, student and their friends keep on going on their
way to grandma’s house. Before student started the trip, student prepared
souvenirs in from of tofu and tempeh for give his grandma.

After all is ready, student and his friends started their go by way of
tandem at 09.00 am. Then, student and his friends say goodbye to his parents.
Altough the road condition are a bit crowded, student and their friends did not
get any obstacles on the way. Because the journey takes approximately 2 hours,
once in while student and his friends drop in mini marked to take a bit a rest
and buy some drink water.

When student and his friends get there, grandma served some food and
water for student and his friends. Then, student and his friends take a rest and
started lunch. After finished their lunch, student and his friends converse a bit
rest then, student and his friends continued visit to one of tourism place and the
name is Strawberry’s garden.

After paid some ticket, student and his friends started to pick some
strawberries. For to take memories, student take some pictures with his friends
in the middle of strawberry’s garden. Student and his friends visited several
tourism and photo spots that are in the patch. Before returned to grandma’s
house, students bought several packs of strawberries to be used as gifts.

On 05.00 pm, student and his friends finished their activities and go
back to grandma’s house. Arriving at grandma’s house, student and his friends
helped grandma clean the house and prepare all the things to take home. Then,
on 05.30 pm, student and his friends say goodbye to grandma and go home with
some items and gifts that could be given to the family at home.

Meeting 16

The meeting sixteen was carried out on Wednesday. It was started at


02:30 pm. Lecturer greeted the students for opening the lesson and checked the
students attendances. In this meeting, students collected a final assignment.
Lecturer asked students about their feeling during teaching and learning
process. Then, lecturer again asked students to analyze the next and tried to
understand it well at homes. At 04.30 pm, lecturers closed the meeting by
saying –“Thank You For Your Attention And See You Next Meeting,
Wassalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.”
