Maintenance & safety tips

1. As soon as you receive your crusher open the drum and check for parts to be sure everything
is tight.
2. Be sure to grease the bearings before the first run & often after that. (we suggest a small
grease gun)
3. If you have a Gas powered crusher always check your oil lever (level) and filters before
starting your crusher.
4. Do not start the crusher with large material still inside the crushing drum.
5. Before you start your crusher look inside the drum to be sure no extra hardware is still inside.
6. Check all nuts & bolts before operation to be sure all are tight.
7. Always wear safety glasses, dust mask protection and gloves.
8. Loose clothing, long hair, dangling accessories all should not be worn if there is any
possibility of them getting caught in the moving parts of the crusher.
9. Do not get your hands or clothing near the moving shaft, pulleys or motors.
10. Don’t open the crusher front plate while running or even plugged into a power source.
11. Don’t wear loose fitting clothing that may get caught in the drive train of your crusher.
12. Check your chain & screen wear and replace when needed.
13. When feeding your new crusher, listen to it… depending on how hard your material is it will
tell you at what rate you can feed it.
14. Any extension cord used for an electric model must be a 15 to 20 amp cord and keep it as
short as possible to keep the amps pulled down to a minimum.
15. Your rock crusher is designed to crush the rock, it cannot make gold out of rocks that do not
contain gold. Also, only use the crusher for its designed use.
16. Oil & lube your crusher before every use.
17. All rock crushers must be turned off & unplugged when opening the cover, cleaning, oiling or
servicing in any fashion.
18. Always be sure as much material is coming out the bottom as you are feeding. Never allow
the crusher to fill up inside.
19. Do not run wet material.
20. Have fun, find gold & please send your Dealer photos of your findings & you running your
new K&M Krusher.
21. Contact your K&M Krusher authorized Dealer you purchased from with any questions you
may have.

your gas motor.

Motor Wire Connections

Figure B: Wiring Diagram indicates the proper wiring connections for each individual motor’s internal wires and
the external power connections.
“CCW” stands for counterclockwise motor shaft rotation and “CW” stands for clockwise shaft rotation.
Note the markings on the internal wires (i.e. “T3, T4, P1, P2,” etc.) and use them as reference for wiring your
specific motor.
WARNING! Verify that there is no power to circuit to be connected. Check fuse box and turn off circuit breaker.
Also tag breaker switch to prevent accidental shock.

strip. See Figure A
2. Using approved National Electrical Code electrical
standards, connect as described in Figure B.
The facility power circuit, and connecting wires,
must be rated to at 20 amps of current.
Use wire lugs (not included) to connect the wires
the motor terminal strip. The motor can be
connected by an appropriate size line cord (not
included) or hard wired through conduit.
3. WARNING! Connect ground wire to ground screw
marked Do not leave loose.

Before initial operation, verify that motor is dry and all connections to the motor are correct.

1. Verify the rotor turns freely when disconnected NOTE: Make sure motor is not being overloaded once
from the load. it comes to its operational speed (see Specifications
2. Also verify the motor is detached from the load chart for each motor’s specific RPM)
for the initial start.
3. Check that the voltage is correct and balanced at Note: If motor suddenly stops, check that its rotation

Inspection, Maintenance, and Cleaning

Procedures not specifically explained

in this manual must be performed only by a qualified technician.

WARNING
TO PREVENT SERIOUS INJURY FROM ACCIDENTAL OPERATION:
Make sure the motor circuit breaker is off before performing any inspection, maintenance, or cleaning
procedures.
1. Before each use, inspect the general condition of the motor. Check for loose screws, misalignment or binding
of moving parts, cracked or broken parts, damaged electrical wiring, and any other condition that may affect
its safe operation. If abnormal noise or vibration occurs, have the problem corrected before further use. Do
not use damaged equipment.
2. Periodically recheck all nuts, bolts, and screws for tightness.

Lubrication
1. Re-oil sleeve bearings with drops of 5W20 viscosity motor oil every 2000 hours of normal service. Direct drive
operation (no pulleys) requires lubrication every 3000 hours of normal service.
2. Sealed ball bearings require no attention during the life of the bearing.
