Module 1

Assessment

Instruction: Answer the following questions.

1. What is the relevance of ICT in your chosen course?

- Nowadays, the use of ICT in the Accountancy profession is very prominent.
Most of the data are inputted in the Microsoft Excel where there are pre-
inputted formulas related to the computation needed. Accountancy deals with
data as the means of recording daily transactions. It can be done more
effectively and efficiently with the help of ICT. As the business grow larger,
the complexity of the data encoding also increases to the point that it is
already hard to do it manually. It is also hard to keep years-worth of records
in papers without getting torn and is hard to organize. That is why the use of
computers is really important to the Accountancy profession. There are lots
of equations, formulas and computations which are very time-consuming if
done manually, with the help of computers with specialized operating
systems for Accounting it can be done easily and comfortably. By just
encoding the formulas once, Accountants can use those for years with
accuracy and less probability of errors in computation compared to what is
done manually since some errors in computation can bring material
discrepancies to the financial statements. Also, financial information are to be
communicated from one department to another, with the help of ICT, it can
be done easier through Email or Gmail. Instead of printing it before checking
and approval from the other department they can just send it first in the email
for checking and then print it out once approved.

2. Name at least 4 uses of ICT in our daily lives and explain.

1. Communication
- Distance makes communication hard and expensive. But with the help of
ICT, it became easier. We have reached the era where distance never matter
anymore and that is thanks to ICT. With the help of cellular phones, it is now
possible to chat, call or even see the people you wanted to talk with and can
discuss any matter with them. Before, communicating in long distance can be
only done by the means of letters and post-cards which takes a few days
before it arrives to its destination, today, messages can now be sent and
receive in just few seconds
2. Job Opportunities
- Most business and jobs in the world uses computers and automated
machines in their operations. Having knowledge about ICT is an advantage
and is sometimes a requirement when applying in some agencies/company
since they are focused on hiring someone who can understand their means
of operations. Also, having knowledge in ICT before applying in jobs can
make someone be effective and efficient in work since no more additional
trainings/seminars needs to be done if they hired someone who is already
ICT literate.
3. Education
- In school, reporting is one of the most common test a student undergo to
improve their way of speaking in front of the mass. Before, reporting is done
using manila papers, cartolina and marker pens which is a hassle especially
if you have bad handwriting. Today, with the help of ICT, reporting are made
easier and more creative with the use of computer application Microsoft
PowerPoint. Also, as we face this pandemic where face-to-face classes are
not yet allowed. It will be very hard to communicate and learn without the
technology we are using right now. If we experienced this lockdown in the
rimes where there is no technological advancements made yet, academe
could have been temporarily terminated because there are no means of
communication between students and teachers and no one is yet allowed to
go out. Luckily, we had ICT that served as our passageway amidst this
pandemic to still pursue our studies.
4. Socializing
- We all know that the main way of socializing is communication. We make
friends and build relationship with others in our neighbourhood through
talking and exchanging conversations with them. Socialization even before
the arrival of technology is already present but only applicable to small range
and people from a certain place cannot communicate to another without
travelling which is a hassle. But with the help of ICT, communication became
easier, more comfortable and the scope of communication have been
widened making it possible for us here in the Philippines to communicate with
our friends in another country without travelling or spending much money.
With the help of ICT, we cannot just chat/call our friends from far places but
can also see the through video call with the aid of Wireless Fidelity/ Wi-Fi .

3. Give 5 positive impacts and 5 negative impacts of ICT in the society.

Positive Impacts
1. Improved access to Education
2. New tools, new opportunities:
3. Efficient/Less-Expensive Communication
4. Online Marketplace/Sites instead of sales catalogues.
5. Security
Negative Impacts
1. Job loss
2. Reduced personal interaction
3. Reduced physical activity
4. Cost
5. Competition

Module 5
Assessment
Essay: Read the statement/s carefully. Answer the given statement/s concisely.

1. Discuss how digital technology change society in the area of:

a. Business
Businesses normally have a complicated way of doing things. From day-
to-day operations, finance systems, transactions and even up to the
management. However, upon the arrival of digital technology, the tangles of the
complicated culture of businesses lessen with the help of automation. Those
goods which was supposedly done manually can now be done by machineries,
the financial statements which was computed with calculators applying various
formulas are now easier by just typing the equation/functions into the computers,
storage of financial data are also made easier and more secure, transactions
which sometimes can be repetitive can now be automated with various functions.
Management are also helped greatly due to the fact that with the help of digital
technology, some presentations about data, reports, suggestions and ideas can
now be shared more effectively and efficiently. All in all, digital technology have
brought great changes which made business less complicated as it was before.

b. Job
No job is easy they say. Workers wake up early and go home at night
tired from their day to day job. But that was before. With the help of newly
invented machines and computers which caused automation in almost
everything, workers’ job are lessened but it reached the point where
some business owners lay off employees because they choose machines
over people due to the fact machines can work more effectively and
efficiently than people. Machines do not need food allowances or paid
vacation leave. Investing in machineries are indeed a good choice for
business owners however, on the side of the job-seekers, their
opportunities are decreasing which results to the increase in number of
jobless graduated people. I have known some people who are graduates
but were not able to find a job coinciding the degree they took, it was
because of limited job vacancies in our country. Some degree holders
became domestic helpers because of this scarcity in job availability. In
conclusion, digital technology in the perspective of business owners / job
providers are an advantage while in the job-seekers perspective, it is a
disadvantage.
c. Health
Digital technology in health for me had positive and negative effects. Due
to it, more and more cure is discovered making it easier for those
unfortunate unhealthy people to prolong their lives or to have a chance to
experience how is it to live like a normal person. However on the other
side, it is undeniable that before reaching a milestone in medicine, there
are some trials and errors that doctors encounter wherein instead of
developing cures, some ends up creating more and even deadlier
diseases making those previously healthy people go ill and even die. On
the other side, digital technology is not meant to be blamed for this due to
the fact that technology were just mere instruments and can’t do anything
on their own. The discipline is to be laid upon those in-charge of those
controls. Scientists playing God must be stopped before they end up
causing more harm to people. They should not use digital technology with
their personal greed. In turn, they should focus on improving health
services which should be the top priority of medicine.
d. Lifestyle
The life now and then was too different that I myself can’t help but
reminisce the old times. The lifestyle now compared to before have
undergone drastic change with the arrival of digital technology. It was
indeed good, considering that it made our daily lives be easier and more
comfortable, and less time-consuming making us able to do more, but it is
also undeniable that the today’s lifestyle led to the declination of physical
activities which resulted to poor health conditions on both young and old
people. Instead of playing outside with friends, running around, releasing
sweats, children tend to stay at home and play with their gadgets alone.
Some people instead of going out and breath in fresh air by going out for
groceries choose to just shop online for less convenience. There are
even some who relies on machines when it comes to household chores
causing immobility in people. I believe that hardships give thrill to life, but
technology seems to be taking the thrill away. Overall, I think digital
technology gave a negative effect on the lifestyle of people.
e. Entertainment
Advancement in digital technology caused the entertainment industry to
boom these days. Accessibility of some entertainment means increased
its popularity to the point that we can now be entertained and entertain
worldwide. It gave us lots of choices where we can select according to
our preferences. Anytime and anywhere, there is entertainment. It keeps
people living even with the hardships they meet in their day to day living.
With the digital technology, we can now watch movies for free without the
convenience of going to cinemas or movie centres. Entertainment does
not only include movies and dramas but also some pictures containing
funny interpretations which we now call “Memes”. Memes are the main
examples on the involvement of entertainment due to the development of
digital technology. With the unexpectedly high level of humor Filipinos
have, new funny ideas and facts about life are getting developed in a
span of seconds. Who could have thought that a stolen shot could reach
millions of people and make them laugh right? But after all, this is
entertainment. The main purpose is to keep people entertained and be
happy to forget even in just a little moment about the problems they have
in life. In conclusion, I think digital technology did a great job in
developing the means of entertainment nowadays.
f. Education
In terms of education, there could be positive and negative effects. In a
positive view, digital technology made information be more accessible for
students making it possible for them to be able to gain more knowledge.
Students nowadays loves to explore about the things they are interested
about. Digital technology bridged the gap between students who wants to
learn and the information they need. Some even says digital technology
made education much easier. On the side of teachers, digital technology
mad it easier for them to educate students with the use of PowerPoint
presentations and some video contents which seems to be more effective
than just theoretical information. However, it can’t be denied that
technology also made it hard to reach out on students especially those
who were distracted with social media and online games specifically
Mobile Legends. On the part of students, the negative effect is that it
could cause loss of interest in studies. Some are getting addicted to some
applications, social media platforms and games to the point that they left
their studies and daily social life behind. But then again, it is not should
be blamed alone to the digital technology. People must discipline
the, selves and their use of the technology to make it balanced and and
helpful not excessive and destructive.

2. Differentiate Technological Determinism and Social Constructivism. Elaborate and

give concrete examples.
Constructivism and social constructivism are two learning theories between
which some differences can be identified. Along with the development of the social
sciences, psychologists and sociologists were interested in comprehending how
people acquire knowledge and generate meaning. Constructivism and social
constructivism as theories emerged in such a backdrop. Simple, constructivism can
be introduced as a learning theory that describes how humans learn and acquire
knowledge. Since this theory aimed at unravelling the relationship between human
experience and the creation of knowledge, it had a tremendous impact on various
disciplines such as psychology, sociology, education, etc. On the other hand, Social
Constructivism is a learning theory that highlights the significance of social
interactions and the role of culture in creating knowledge. The key difference
between the two theories stems from the emphasis that each theory lays on
experiences and social interactions. In constructivism, the emphasis is on personal
experiences in constructing knowledge, but in social constructivism the emphasis is
on social interactions and culture. Examples of Technological determinism A gun
required minimum effort and skill to be used successfully and could be used from a
safe distance. This when compared to how earlier wars were fought with swords and
archery lead to a radical change in the weapons used in war. social constructivism
stresses the need for collaborative learning. Learning is promoted through
collaboration among students, and between students and teachers. ... Some
examples of collaborative learning activities are group problem solving, group inquiry,
simulations, and debates.

3. Describe the process of technological change. How technological evolution takes

place?
Technological change is the most important factor that determine rate of economic
growth. It plays a important role than the capital formation. It is the technological change
which can bring about continued increase in output per head of the population. Thus it is
the prime-mover of economic growth. Technological change or progress refers to the
discovery of the new and improved methods of producing goods. Sometimes
technological advances result in the increase in available supplies of natural resources.
But more generally technological changes result in increasing the productivity of labour,
capital and other resources. The productivity of combined inputs of all factors is called
total factor productivity. Thus technological progress means increase in total factor
productivity. As a result of technological advance, it becomes possible to produce more
output with same resources or the same amount of product with less resource. It follows
from above that technological change brings about an increase in output per head. Thus
technological change, or more precisely technological progress, is the change in the
production process which results in an increased output per unit of labour. Technological
change causes a shift in the production function embodying all known techniques.
Technological change must be distinguished from a change in technique. While by
technological change we mean advance in knowledge resulting in improved methods of
production, change in technique refers to the use of a different but already known
method of production The process of economic growth involves the increase in the
production of goods and services. Increase in production can be achieved either through
the use of more resources and/or through the realization of higher productivity by means
of using the resources of labour, capital and land more efficiently. Technological change
helps to promote growth in both these ways. It can help in the discovery of new natural
resources in the country and thereby enhances the productive potential of the country.
Technological change also increases the productivity of available resources. It is
technology which underlies the process of producing new things with the existing
resources or using the existing resources in new ways. This is what Schumpeter means
when he says that, “the slow and continuous increase in the national supply of
productive means and savings is obviously an important factor in explaining the course
of economic history through the centuries, but it is completely overshadowed by the fact
that development consists primarily in employing existing resources in a different way, in
doing new things with them, irrespective of whether those resources increase or not. It is
important to emphasize that newly discovered techniques lead to the increase in output
per worker. This is the age of technology.

Module 6
Assessment

1. Enumerate 5 IoT devices and discuss what smart abilities do they have.
a. Smart Door Locks
- Allows you to lock your phone from anywhere through smart phone apps.
b. Video Doorbells
- Allows users to receive video calls from their doorbells when someone is at
the door. It also allows them to unlock and allow access to their homes.
c. Personal assistants
- It allows users to do voice commands to their smartphones without contact,
they can play music search information and even type and send a message
or answer calls.
d. AR Glasses
- Allows hands-free work. Used to pull up blueprints or product specifications.
It also allows workers to stream clear point of view video from expert
assistants in other locations using Wi-Fi.
e. Motion Detection
- Can identify the small disturbances and patterns that could lead to
catastrophic failures. Also used in areas susceptible to landslides,
avalanches, and earthquakes.
2. Differentiate virtual reality technology and augmented technology from one another.
What are the positive and negative implications of these emerging trends to our culture and
society

Virtual reality (VR), the use of computer modeling and simulation that enables a
person to interact with an artificial three-dimensional (3-D) visual or other
sensory environment. VR applications immerse the user in a computer-
generated environment that simulates reality through the use of interactive
devices, which send and receive information and are worn as goggles, headsets,
gloves, or body suits. In a typical VR format, a user wearing a helmet with a
stereoscopic screen views animated images of a simulated environment. The
illusion of “being there” (telepresence) is effected by motion sensors that pick up
the user’s movements and adjust the view on the screen accordingly, usually in
real time (the instant the user’s movement takes place). On the other hand,
Augmented reality is a more versatile and practical version of virtual reality, as it
does not fully immerse individuals in an experience. Augmented reality features
interactive scenarios that enhance the real world with images and sounds that
create an altered experience. The most common current applications of this
overlay of digital images on the surrounding environment include the recent
Pokémon Go fad.

With the reality being manipulated by various technological advancements, it is

now hard to distinguish reality from the virtual ones causing confusion to people.
I think technology should not let their advancements reach the point where reality
is already ignored and virtual ones prevail.
Module 7
Assessment

Using the fundamentals of graphics design, enumerate and explain the elements on this image
that needs to improve and be able to create your version of this design.
Upon seeing this design, the first thing that came to my mind is the word “Boring”. The offers
is nice, I myself could have been encouraged to buy if only the poster will be a little more
attracting. Who looks at an uninteresting postage right? Before focusing in the content of the
offer, marketers should find ways to let people know about that offer. Considering the fact that it
is supposed to be used for marketing purposes over which its main purpose is to attract
customers, this design is a fail. First thing I noticed, is the lack of color. For a graphic design
which aims to attract customers, Color is a must-focused element. It is the first thing that
attracts people. With the right combination of colors, it can make people stop and stare at it for
a while. Another thing is the fonts used. It seems redundant even if it’s actually simple. The
shapes used, instead of using diamond shapes to indicate a festive theme, how about using
colourful flags clip arts and then add some forms to it to make it seem realistic. About the
information stated in the flyer, it should minimized to make it less redundant and straight to the
point because people find it time-consuming to read everything and it gives by-passers less
opportunity to digest the information from the flyer. Here is my improved version of the flyer:
Module 8
Assessment

1. Define photography in your own words.

-Photography is an art of capturing moments in a creative manner. It allows
people who have no talent in painting and drawing but interested in art to be able
to express and show their creativity in a digital form using a camera.
Photography involves a process of capturing, editing and producing the photos in
the most aesthetic way. Photography surged upon the development of high
quality cameras and free editing applications which allows even kids to engage in
photography.
2. What are the three basic types of Photography?
 Landscape - is a photograph of the environment. It could be the forest,
mountains, oceans, or your backyard. Landscape photography is a
photograph of the outdoors. It could be the land, water, buildings, etc.
 Portrait - A portrait photograph is a picture of a person or animal that shows
an emotional connection
 Documentary- tells a story without changing the facts. It can be a portrait or
landscape.

3. Explain the photographic triangle.

It explains the relationship between shutter speed, ISO and Aperture. Those tree
work together to produce a photo that is properly exposed. It is a principle in
photography that determines the amount of light that reaches your camera
sensor. In order to achieve a properly exposed photo it had to be made sure that
all three elements are working in harmony.
4. Explain the difference between Underexposure and Overexposure.
Underexposure is if the photo is too dark. Details are lost in the shadows and the
darkest areas of the image. While the overexposure is if the photo is too light.
Details are lost in the highlights and the brightest parts of the image.

5. Take a picture of any style of photography you want and explain the meaning of that
picture.

This picture has a verbatim

meaning “Someday I will
become that someone I am
wishing to become” The
photographer used a thing to
represent a person looking the
mirror seeing its ideal self

6. Define and explain Aperture.

It is the size of the hole in the diaphragm that allows light into the camera. The larger the
hole, the lighter that enters the camera in a given time. It controls the brightness of the
image that passes through the lens and fails on the image sensor. It is one of the pillars
of photography and certainly the most important. It is compared to the pupil in our eyes.
As we move between bright and dark environments, the iris in our eyes either expands
or shrinks controlling the size of your pupil.
7. Define and explain Shutter Speed.
It is the speed at which the shutter of the camera closes. A faster shutter speed creates
a shorter exposure while the slow shutter speed gives the photographer a longer
exposure. It is responsible for two particular things: changing the brightness of your
photo and creating dramatic effects by either freezing action or blurring motion.
Comparing it the the eyes shutter is the eyelids and the speed of the eyelids opening
and closing is the shutter speed.
8. Define and explain ISO/Film Speed.
It represents the sensitivity of a given film emulsion to light. It is a simple camera setting
that will brighten or darken a photo. As ISO number increase, photos will grow
progressively brighter. For that reason, ISO can help capture images in darker
environments or be more flexible about aperture and shutter speed settings.
9. Take a portrait photo of yourself and perform simple post processing using that picture.
(Note: Take a screenshot on the step by step process of your post processing)
